I hear that, and I agree, I should have put the knife specs as well, it fully compliments a picture if you know what they are. hah.

Both are backwoods blades from Bill Akers, and Im the original owner of both. Ive had them both since early 2015 and they have been through many deer and elk.

The one on top is:
"DROPPED HUNTER"
1095 hc
Beautiful Stabilized Box Elder Burl scales
Antique Flats, Fine scotchbright finish
Toxic liners , Mosaic Pins
7 3/4" oal 3 1/2" Blade.

The one below is:
Nesmuk
The overall length is 8" and the cutting length of the blade is 3.5".
1095 steel.
Redwood scales with red liners.
Antique finish on the flats.

Sorry for the file pict. These are my 2 user hunting knives.
Buck 102 which was my first fixed blade knife bought in the early 70's.
Other is a Boker made DP made for Cabelas that I bought in the 80's I believe.
These 2 will hollow out anything I shoot and then some.

Left to right:
Kershaw antelope hunter 2, Case bird hook knife, Case trapper, Buck 110.

I have a CPM-154 drop point Buck 110 LT, but I haven't had a chance to get it out hunting yet. I like the size and general shape of the Kershaw, but I wish it were a bit shorter from spine to edge; and for some reason I don't care all that much for the 8CR13MOV (while I'm fine with the 420HC on the Buck and indifferent about the 'surgical stainless' on the Case knives). I did once use a Cold Steel SRK, worked great, but I don't normally take it out with me. These days the Buck 110 is most likely to be with me while hunting big game.

Don't have any pictures unless I dig around for the knives and create them for this thread. I used a Case Barlow (wore out long ago), a similar sized Case jack knife, a Remington Bullet Trapper, one year a Gerber Gator, Schrade 250T for about 5 years. Most recently it was a small fixed blade. But I was diagnosed with alpha-gal (red meat allergy) and pretty much stopped hunting deer. Didn't see any point on continuing as I would have to give away all the meat.

If I developed an allergy to red meat, I would fall in to a deep deep depression.
I am sorry to hear about that.
I give away most of my deer meat, I only like ground deer and deer jerky.
But elk is so tasty. Only a little of that is given away to close friends or anyone that helps pack it out.

The thread’s about knives but all I can think is...nice cutting board. :D

Thanks! All acacia with about 6 years of mineral oil, lots of cutting, and one round of resurfacing. If that board could talk it would say "eat fewer vegetables and give me a darn break already!".

Left- maker is lindsey out of montana. 1095, g10, 3 1/4 blade length.
Middle- western usa 648a. Has seen many uses in the field.
Right- maker is tom collet i forget if 1095 or 5160. Peach wood handle. 4 1/2 inch blade with mustard patina. Also seen extensive use.

Started out with a Schrade can't remember the model maybe a Golden Spike lost it probably 20 years ago still have the sheath somewhere. Mostly used a Case 316-5 and a Buck 110. Tried probably a dozen different knives over the years but always kept coming back to those two. The Buck was mostly used for small game. I haven't hunted anything in the last few years

I cleaned one squirrel this past year with my A.G. Russell Medium Gents Folding Hunter:

This old US-made Gerber fixed blade has seen some game cleaning too:

I cleaned a couple more with my little Buck small Vantage Pro, but I can't find the action shots. Probably got pulled down for being too graphic...

Is that a high powered .22 cal pellet rifle?

Got to add this 940 as well. I got separated from my fixed blade last year a couple miles back

and skinned elk quarters with the 940. It did just fine.
