When I got my Coote, I had Norm set it up for the small wheel attachment, too. I had him put a 5/8" sleeve on it, which has been perfect for my deep index finger notches that I put on a lot of knives. I assume, though, that people also use the small wheel attachment for raduising material out of larger handles to make palm swells and the like, too. What size do you use for something like that? The 10" contact wheel is way too big for this, so I assume it's something like a 2" wheel or something like that, but I would like to try to avoid having a million small wheel sleeves and attachments if I can.

buy a KMG!!!
i've heard a lot of good things about a 3" wheel.
and i hear they're pretty nice for deep hollow grinds, for top grinds and such.
i'm sure someone with actual experience with one can tell you more though

KMG is really nice looking, but

A) looks hard to use, no stability the way it sticks out there.
B) Costs a lot for each attachment.

My .02

I do need to work something out for my grinder, though. I really need a small wheel!

How'd this turn into a KMG discussion? I have a Coote already, I'm not buying a KMG for small wheels! :D Anyway, I think I can go up to a 2.5" on the Coote. I'll probably start with that one, and that would give me the smallest, which I already have, and the biggest I can get, and then I can see the difference and get one or two for the middle range if I need them. Thanks, Stacy!

Z you are wrong on both counts :D :D :D that KMG is solid.

I personally like the 1-1/2" for finger notches.

small hands, 1"

Ask ol Norm to send you a 1" wheel (Actually 7/8") but turns 1" with the belt attached. That is all I have used for the past 7yrs and just the right size for grooves Etc.
He did mine in Aluminum not Delrin and it holds up much better

BTW z537z you couldn't be more wrong about the KMG. Good idea to see one in person before knocking it!
