The R-7 has caught my eye recently so I thought I would start a thread about them.

I've always liked the Sharpfinger style but thought it would be better bigger and the R-7 is. Seems like a very nice knife for skinning and camp work. Am making a sheath for one right now and the owner asked me if I could sharpen it before I send it back. It pops hairs off my arm now.

Here are some pics of the knife I'm working on:

Who has one, what do you like or dislike about it and so on? Please tell us about your experiences. Thanks!

you never know when you'll need to peel a banana or pop a balloon

its a great go to knife for everyday light tasks, and I figure that it will be a great skinning knife
if only I had a nice sheath to go with it.....

Hey Issun, nice looking knife. I get the feeling that I've seen it before. Couldn't be the one on my work bench could it? LOL!! should be done by the weekend. I think you'll like yours even more after you try out the new edge. :)

So far my only misgivings about the R-7 have been the sheath and the stubborn edge, so I cant wait to see it in its new trappings and with a nice sharp edge!
although seeing your recent interest in the R-7 has me worried, are you going to be able to part with it when the time comes? :P

LOL!! I'll be able to send it home when I'm finished with the sheath.

Looking forward to seeing the sheath. I've got a few in wildmanh's shop myself for new pants myself.

Thanks!! I'll be posting pics when the sheath is finished. Same with yours if you like.

Anyone else want to comment on the R-7's? There has to be more owners out there.
