I have been eyeballing one of these knives in either 7 or 8 inch blade for about two years. I have found a couple on ebay for decent prices but haven't committed to buy one yet. I have been hoping to trade for one now that I'm here on BF but no luck yet. I just want to hear your likes'dislikes and how they perform, hold an edge, etc.I know that Helle, and Stromeng make one, I'd like to know of any other brands and places they can be purchased. I appreciate any help you can give or info you can add. thanks

Ragweed forge has a good selection of leukus from different companies. One of the big factors for me would be an all-high carbon blade due to the size and purpose of a leuku, versus most of the companies that use a triple lamination of stainless and carbon.

I've chatted with the guy from ragweed but he was out of the sizes I wanted and said he never knows when they will come in and then when they do they sell super fast.

It's an Eräpuu, made in Kemi (south finnish Lappland) by the Kehusmaa brothers. Their webpage is only in finnish.

As almost every family business brand in Finland they use Lauri blades and fittings, only for a couple of small models they mount handforged blades by Altti Kankaanpää. Good value for the money.
