Here goes. I am a HAPPY owner of a plane small sebenza 21 clip point blade no inlay. After reading and looking at pictures of a small 21 insingo micarta, I have been thinking maybe I should order one and try it out. I am not a collector. I also own one fixed blade nyala drop point which I love. Will the insingo perform edc cutter tasks better than my current clip point? What will my clip point do that a insingo wont? Also, how do you folks feel about the micarta inlays on the small 21? I figured I would consult you guys before ordering something else.

The micarta inlay changed my mind about the small sebenza (I previously thought they were too small for me to use/like/enjoy). I picked up a pre-loved small 21 micarta and fell hard in love. Next thing I knew I snagged a Devin Thomas ladder damascus mammoth bark inlay 21 - yes, the micarta small 21 can in fact be a gateway drug...

The micarta gives the knife some extra width and grip. As for the insingo blade, it is great for slicing! It's also easier to sharpen over the clip:)

What's the difference between a plane and a plain? ;)

+1 for the micarta. It makes the small feel so much better IMO. My small micarta Insingo is my favorite small Sebenza by far.

Have you ever flown on a plain plane?

Although I don't have a small clip point Sebenza, I have a 2002 large regular, and I just got a 2015 small plain Insingo. For my uses, I much prefer the Insingo's modified wharncliffe. This blade shape in incredibly useful. Someday I might even get a large Insingo, but for now I'm loving carrying and using my small as my EDC. I tend to prefer my CRKs plain without any inserts.

Another fan of the small micarta inlay. It just fills my hand right. It is my favorite Sebenza(mine is the Classic MM , but the differences between it and the 21 don't matter that much)I have only owned clip points so nothing to add there.

I had several slab sided 21's before I got a Micarta inlay, it has stuck with me. It's got that tiny bit of extra and traction I like, Canvas Micarta is warm and comfortable, also it doesn't slip when wet. For me the Insingo blade is the one, also very pointed blades tend to cut..........ME:).

Sounds like most of you prefer the micarta inlay. I already have a clip point plane small 21. I think a small 21 micarta inlay insingo is calling out to me. :) Wonder if inlay models bring more money when sold? Just curious. Not that I sell my knives or anything. :o

I think you will find that some prefer the Micarta in the small and plain (plane:D) for the large. I personally like the Micarta on both, but it is almost a must on the small.

I am not to sure about resale value, but double lug has more saleability (IMO)
