Letter on the inside of handle?

I have a large unique graphic with the star sapphire inlay and I was wondering what the letter on the handle means? It also says 99 but was made in 2000. Is this the way they are graded? TIA -CL

The markings on the inside of the handles are simply in-house batching numbers. Even though your knife may have been completed in 2000, the initial profiling of the handle slabs could well have been done in toward the end of the previous year.
