Did Camillus make these under any other names. I found an older one marked "SOQUE".

I kinda liked the style of these Lever Locks, but did not care for the blade steel. 420J2, or something similar, I believe. :barf: I would buy a few of these if the blade steel was AUS 8 or 440C at least.

We made the Lev R Lok originally for Soque River Knives, as an OEM contractor. When Soque River had some growing pains and couldn't continue on their end, we aquired the design from them, and moved the knife to be under the CAMILLUS banner.

Danbo, the knife features a 420HC blade @ Rc57-58. To be made in the price range that the knife "needs" to be sold at, the blade needs to be blanked, not laser cut. With the intricate geometry involved in the opening mechanism, that precludes blanking it out of 440C, as 440C would not blank "clean enough" for the needed tolerance. AUS8 might work, but since it is not availible in quantity here for USA production, its a non-issue. Let me end by saying this Danbo, if you have not tried our heat treated 420HC...don't even think about comparing it to 420J2, as they are as different as night and day.

Even most of the forumites[and forumites are the MOST difficult to please ;) ] who have tried our 420HC in, for instance our ARCLITE, have been pleasntly surprised by this steels properties and performance.

Thanks Will. I found the knife in a box of assorted stuff my brother-in-law had. I'm going through the knives trying to catalog them for sale for his widdow and son. Some of them will be keepers.
