Levels of Force and Neck Knife Trapping w/ La Griffe

I was training the other day and my sparring partner & I were discussing another possibility regarding using the La Griffe
neck cord/sheath as a trapping device for a less than lethal solution.
The 5 levels of force are: Presence, Verbal,
Touch, Impact Weapon(s), and Lethal as I learned them.
Other MA tists have used other implements
and improvised w/ different items. But the concept and principle remains the same.

We were experimenting and we found some interesting uses and applications w/ all neck knives w/ paracord or suitable surrogate. Chain is too weak. Cable works well too.

The sheath and cord can be used effectively to TRAP and control the opponet as a counter to an attack. W/O the brandishing of the Edged Weapon. This is
Significant w/ all the touchey warm fuzzy laws out there.
We were able to trap the Attacking Limb ( fist, Arm foot leg etc.) and wrap it then w/ usually a hook step or equivalent, take down,
control and bargain position w/ effectiveness
consistantly. To a unenlightened attacker
it is a excellent use and alternative to use of force.
Of course you need the time to access your Neck rig etc. But it is viable and interesting use to play with.
I will elaborate more if anyone's interested
later.

Anyone else out there doing this or ?
I appreciate the feedback.
Thanks

Tamishigiri, that's a great idea. I've been practicing these moves with a JSP V-gar and bandanas and even made a parcord trainer. I never even thought to use my La Griffe.

I guess if you need to escalate, you can always just draw the La Griffe.

I have not thought to use a neck knife sheath and cord as a flexible weapon, but it is a great idea.

Instead of wearing a neck knife around the neck for carry and deployment, try winding the cord around the sheath tucking the loose end under the wrapped cord. Drop the whole thing in your pocket. The knife can be drawn from the pocket with the strong hand and cord deployed with the off hand. The drawback is you cannot go to drawing the knife directly, you will always need two hands to deploy the knife. A second knife or a gun will have to be carried and available if you must escalate to the lethal level immediately.

Great idea! I've been practicing using the lanyard that came with my Surefire 6Z, which has two marble-size plastic balls on the ends. Another use for the Mighty Griffe! Thanks!
