Lewis Barnascone knife

After my mam died I kept a number of her old cutlery and this knife was among them. Can anyone tell me what it was designed for as it's an unusual shape and an approximate date of manufacturing please. It has a grasshopper inbetween the words trade mark with Sheffield below and Lewis Barnascone below that
