I'm looking to purchase a backpack from Maxpedition, probably the Pygmy Falcon-II, but i'm unsure of the color I want.

Black is tactical
OD looks too military
So its down to Khaki and Foliage Green

So if anyone has some pictures of foliage green it would be much appreciated.

Most of my gear is black including my pygmy falcon. Not tactical. I just like it because it isn't flashy or showy like the cammo and doesn't' show the dirt like khaki. Its........ low key. Whatever color you get I think you will like it.

I have a Proteus ass-pack AND a Vulture II full-size backpack in khaki (or desert, depending on the piece-- same color, though) and they are great.

You don't want black. It will be too hot in the sun. Green is okay, but still hotter than something light. The khaki is awesome. Feels great, looks good.

The Maxpedition Foliage is very close in color to the 'gray' StatPacks color. I say 'gray' because the color does have some green in it. It appears to be very close to foliage in color. Here is a StatPacks pouch in 'gray next to the Maxpedition bottle holder in foliage:

Although very close in color, the Maxpedition foliage color contains a little more green than the StatPacks gray.

And since you're looking at getting a backpack, just to give you a rough idea of what the floiage may look like on a larger scale, here's my StatPacks main pack in their gray color:

I hope this helps you Exotica.

I don't own any Maxpedition FG items but it's pretty much a gray color. It has a slight greenish tent but for the most part people would assume it's gray. You really only pick up the green in sunlight.

I've never been a big fan of tan anything. Get's dirty to easy and it doesn't really blend in with anything other than sand or dead grass. I live in woods in the south. Lots of green. So I buy OD green Maxpedition stuff. It pretty much disappears in the woods and OD green is not a bad color at night either. OD kinda changes color depending on the light. It can almost look a dull grey in evening sunlight. It absorbs light pretty well and I personally think it hides better at night than black. I assume the foliage will do similar things. I'd recommend that color over tan.

After looking at some OD Green packs I'm starting to consider those, now I can't decide between OD or Foliage, bah!

Thanks for the pics and info, you all.

Anyone by chance have a side by side comparison of OD and foliage?

Khaki is the first choice if you have to do solid color.

HOWEVER. Since Maxpedition has come out with Black with Foliage Green trim and Black with Khaki trim, those have been runaway popular sellers. I honestly cannot believe how well they sell. Khaki with Foliage runs behind solid khaki for some reason. They also have Orange with Foliage trim and Royal Blue with Foliage as well... so don't feel that your choices are too limited.

Wonder why they mixed the orange and blue with foliage? I'd be all over a jumbo versapack if it was orange and black. :(

Most of my Maxpedition products (and I have way too many) are khaki. Mine are mostly used in an urban setting (though my pygmy falcon II does go on hikes) and I try to be as low profile as possible. Black can come off as overly mall-ninja, and I just don't care for the green. Khaki is neutral, looks nice and blends in (to the extent possible).

Personally I hate the orange & foliage. Then again, if I hate it, it usually sells well. V:confused:V

The Foliage trim looks great with the other colors though.

Like powernoodle said, black is too "tactical" - OD is too "military"

This combo though, it looks like a normal piece of gear that anyone would buy in a sporting goods store.

Just an observation as to color. I have a Fatboy S-Type Versipack in black..rationale borrowed from someplace else was that this pack, carry and size said CAMERA BAG while colors such as khaki, OD might say military, tactical or whatever language a mall Ninja uses.

A varmint hunter, this left hand carry edition leaves my right free for rifle. FYI, I like this item but a little snug for a .45 when added to my Canon, GPS,TP, flashlight, rangefinder and other miscl junk..matter of fact I consider it kind of marginal for full size auto carry with or without all the other gear.. concealed carry was not the primary purpose for which it was purchased but some folks apparently like that use option.
