LF; slip joint, sub-3.5in handle...

Been screwing around making an Altoids Survival Tin and none of the knives I've found are the right fit. Max handle length must be 3.5in or less. And everything I've found is either too small to get a decent grip on or a quarter inch too big for the box. Must fit horizontal across the tin and not diagonal because that takes up too much space. The Boker Key Chain Slip Joint caught my eye, although a bit too small. I'm a sucker, so I'll probably buy it anyways. Regardless, I'm still in search for the perfect 3.5in slip-joint knife to put in my 'I will literally never use this' Altoids Survival Tin. The SpyderCo Dragon Fly 2 is the perfect length, but handle is too wide and takes up too much space. Looking for something much closer to Lion Steel's Barlow but a quarter inch shorter handle. Any ideas?

Spyderco cat? Kershaw amplitude
The Cat has the same issue as the Dragon Fly 2 being too wide. The Amplitude does match the dimensions, but not quite the feel. I'm being finicky, I know. Was hoping for something similar to the Benchmade Proper Slip-Joint, but smaller. The Kabar Mini-Dozer would be in the same style (in my eyes) as the Amplitude. Currently leaning more toward the Buck 55. Thank you for the new ideas though.

If you can have an OTF auto, then look no farther than the California legal Microtech Troodon mini. Mine has the jade scale (other side is black). Blade is M390 and I use it every single day to open boxes and if I wipe the blade it looks and cuts like new. And the blade jets out and in and the action is absurdly snappy. Blade is 1.9".

That seems like an expensive knife to put in an altoids tin that will most likely never be used.

Yeah, the normal mini-s sell for a hundred and change I believe. Mine was special with the DLC M390 blade, jade scale, etc. and that crazy blade shape. So it cost much more.

A hundred and change? Where?!…

My idea for the Altoids tin would be to put in whatever knife will fit. That size it isn’t gonna be a wonder of ergonomics, so what does it matter? I’d just put survival junk in it and save the folder for my other pocket.

The normal mini troodons retail for $300. If you see them for $100 and change, you can bet they’re counterfeit. They’re still cheaper than a MT belt though lol

Why a slipjoint? Law restrictions?

Moki Blakiston's Fish Owl would fit if a locking blade is acceptable.

Whenever I get my lazy ass around to making my own kit, I'm gonna put in a small folding "knife" that holds replaceable scalpel blades. And or a G.Sakai Preppy or A.G. Russell 3" carbon fiber lockback (only get an older Japanese made AGR, not the new Chinese made which are crap).

There's a number of 84mm Victorinox choices out there. Can't go wrong there.

so... funny thing is the inner dimension is actually 3.6" -> 91.5mm https://uk.pi-supply.com/products/altoids-mints-sized-tin
which happens to hold the most common size for SAK... 91mm
get an electrician or whatever, bantam if you want it ultra thin

I personally would just strap a slightly bigger, more useful knife to the outside of the tin and call it a day.
Breaks the rules.

I used my measurement. My eyes could be off. Just ordered one and will see if that fits. Thank you.
