Hey all,
When you are disengaging a large Sebenza 21, should you feel no resistance on the lock face, or is a bit of "hydraulic" stick normal? also sometimes when I am playing with my sebbie, it will start getting stickier and stickier, but then when I wipe off the engaging surfaces, the stick immediately disappears. Is this normal? Sorry for all the noob questions.
Thanks

There may be a bit of stick, but nothing that should make it harder to shut. Moreso just the feeling of the tension on the lock face being removed. As far as it being stickier and stickier, have you taken the knife apart and regreased it? If not, I would recommend taking it all apart, wiping the surfaces down with rubbing alcohol and a cloth rag to remove all the old grease and regreasing it. With the film that's left on your finger, wipe the lock face down on the blade and if you can, on the lock face. Not a lot, just a coating. See if that helps them to break in better.

Just a follow up: With lots of use or pocket lint, I have noticed the same with mine. Also, some of todays jean pants when new, seem to have fine grains of stone in the pockets where they stone wash them. This can play hell on your folder!!
I say that, to say, check your jean pockets if you wear jeans like I described. My small Seb had no problems, large did. Come to find out, when clipped the small wouldn't touch bottom of pocket, large did and would pick up lint and grains of stone. Needless to say, clean your pockets too! lol

Being bored at your desk and no tools or if you aren't adept at taking it apart? Try cleaning very well with a thin rag like a hankie, shave a toothpick and carefully reapply grease. This should do a decent enough of a job. Taking apart is obviously the best way, but we may not always be able to take it apart so I have done this while bored at work.

No, not normal at all. You should feel no resistance at all. If you're experiencing what you describe as hydraulic stick, you need to clean the knife by taking it apart. Sounds like there is too much grease on the bushings and the grease is pushing out getting on the lock face. It doesn't take much grease to make it smooth.

If I open my insingo any faster than a "slow deliberate movement", like if I flick it (which I do....cause it's mine), or open it hastily, it will sometimes stick a little bit. I think it's pretty normal!

Mine will do that if I have too much grease or over tighten the pivot. I've learned to use the Allen wrench long ways until it twists to tighten the pivot, then go literally a hair more for sanity. That keeps it perfect.

I've had no sticking lockface problems with any of my Sebs. Smooth, no resistance.

Hmm, I just tried this and it seems a little smoother, maybe a little more centered than it was (was very slightly off center). Thanks for the advice!
