Hey everyone, I was just goin' through my ICQ (38575462) messages and I got one pointing me toward http://www.harrybrowne1000.org ... the only reason I mention this is because the libertarians have some odd stances on issues like drugs, which make sence after you read the whole reasoning behind it. the knife/gun laws are the other way around CURRENTLY. you say, "less guns, less shooting, and therefore, less crime." which is TOTOLLY wrong.

Australia just enacted gun restrictions and crime went up (according to something i read) substancially. I e-mailed the campaing at volunteer@harrybrowne2000.org and i will post the reply here.

the jist of the message i sent was:
I read through the site and i didn't see anything on the knife/gun laws, so i am asking you to find out.

and whoever gets it can either answer or tell me who to ask. right?

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but the Libertarian Party is pro-gun.
The Bill of Rights recognizes that an armed citizenry is essential to a free society. We affirm the right to keep and bear arms and oppose all laws at any level of government restricting, regulating, or requiring the ownership, manufacture, transfer, or sale of firearms or ammunition. We oppose all laws requiring registration of firearms or ammunition. We also oppose any government efforts to ban or restrict the use of tear gas, "mace," or other self-protection devices. We further oppose all attempts to ban weapons or ammunition on the grounds that they are risky or unsafe.

We support repeal of the National Firearms Act of 1934 and the Federal Gun Control Act of 1968, and we demand the immediate abolition of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.

We favor the repeal of laws banning the concealment of weapons or prohibiting pocket weapons. We also oppose the banning of inexpensive handguns ("Saturday night specials"), and semi-automatic or so-called assault weapons and their magazines or feeding devices.

whoa! thanks for more info. i think this is gonna get moved to the political forum... i'd personally rather it stays here, but whatever....

you can also read this... it's more like "how to convert someone to oppose gun laws". http://www.harrybrowne2000.org/text/comment/gunrights.htm

my problem is it seems like they're overlooking knives.

I think the reason the mover and shakers of the Libertarian Party are concentrating on guns is because it is the bigger issue. When on is set straight the other will be easier. However, guns will be only slightly less difficult if done after knives. But if guns are done first then knife policies will then slip into place rather nicely.
For more information go to www.cato.org it is one of my daily stops
