I recently received this 17" 24oz knife similar to a Liberty Series L-3 model designed by Howard Wallace. The kami took liberty with the design on this one. I think it was made by Dil. Kami mark looks like a lotus flower.

Thanks to Howard Wallace who donated it back to HI to be sold to me! https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/donations.1723574/

This knife is very well balanced. It has a deep fuller down the full length of the blade. The blade is similar to a Gelbu Special. The horn handle has a nice swell for the palm. There is a unique pommel that might be for martial arts purposes. Might help to keep it from slipping out of your hands? There is also a hand guard similar to the HI Butterfly Knives. I will definitely be putting this knife to use out in the woods. I want to see how it will do as a "one-and-only" knife.

I am very new to this model. I have seen older posts about the L-1 & L-2 but not very much at all on the khukuri shaped L-3. I am a huge fan of this knife. I would love to know what some of you other L-3 style knife owners think of yours. Thanks.

I held all 3 when I visited Yangdu a few years back, I was most partial to the slender one, not sure if that was 1 or 2, the 3 impressed me more than I expected. I wanted to bring all 3 home but they were for an order.

It’s unusual enough it may not have a commonly accepted name. It was posted here when Yangdu first sold it. If you’re up for some detective work you can find out what Yangdu called it. I do remember it came out after the liberty knives so that narrows the timeframe.

I saw on an old post RedEagleTrapping requested an L-3 with an S shaped guard. Perhaps they made a few to see if people liked them. I love this one. Thanks for the info.
