If you happen to be in or near Warren, Maine on July 11-12 Lie Nielsen is having their annual open house. I'll be hanging out with Wetterlings in the tent outside the workshop (apparently they want to keep the axe people and the fine woodworking people separate :)) Wetterlings will have a bunch of their new axes, and I'll have a bunch of older American axes on display and will be doing some restoration and sharpening demos. There are plenty of other great demos and tool stuff happening as well. http://www.lie-nielsen.com/open-house/

The North Atlantic Blue Festival also happens to be that same weekend. http://www.northatlanticbluesfestival.com/

Stop by and say 'hi' if you're in the area.

Oh, man. I only wish. Can you get me a killer deal on some planes while you're there, Nick??!!! :D

It might be worth the drive down! Seriously debating going, I'll be down there as one of the axe people.

I just took the time to peruse the website. Wow, seriously this is amazing stuff! Some of the furniture these guys and gals produce, and the tools used...drooling!

I'll be in Fairfield those days, but regardless I'll be picking up some axes! Supposedly Maine's largest antique mall is in Fairfield and I sure as hell hope to score some axes.

The Open House was amazing. I didn't get many photos (my phone is old and doesn't have the capacity for many photos). But got to meet a bunch of great woodworkers. Also got to share a tent with Julia from Wetterlings. So one side was new Swedish axes, and the other side was a motley assortment of old American axes. We even had some maple on hand to do some spoon carving. I tightened and sharpened an old Stiletto hewing hatchet to toss into the mix.

Lie Nielsen was kind enough to let me use some of their Auriou rasps. Which were pretty spectacular. http://www.lie-nielsen.com/auriou-rasps/

Beautiful place.
I have a soft spot for Stilettos since they were one of the few west coast axe makers.
