Life after pre orders- How's it going to work now?

Sept 6th and all pre ordering for the 2cd gen knives is wrapped up and I have read a few times that S/K! is getting away from them for future runs.
So how is it going to work once the 2cd gens are all shipped? Small batches at a time being offered on Monday sales or? Once the sk line is up and running a constant supply of ready made knives is the plan but the others is what I am curious about. In the meantime I guess it's all about keeping current on Instagram and the store website.

I know the Monday sales don't work for a lot of folks so we will still continue to offer a preorder and/or presale. Those will definitely be limited by time or total numbers and will be one at a time, instead of all at once.

Preordering is nice for us because it gives us a gauge of where demand has gone since the last run. We were surprised by how many GSO-5.1 preorders were placed. If we hadn't done that 48 hour preorder, that run would not have lasted very long even with planning to make way more. Of course, there are some obvious disadvantages to running preorders. We don't particularly enjoy making people wait or being accused of running a ponzi scheme. So we will see how that plays out over time.

In reality, we are never going to make everyone happy. We are just going to keep trying to though.

I think the idea of doing a pre-order right before the run begins will work because it reduces the wait times (people know the run is about to begin rather than having to wait on other models to finish). If you do it like you did with the 48 hour sale, that lets people get in on it and you also know how much steel to order. I would think ordering more in advance than that is tougher because people don't see the progress through the various stages of production happening

Good question Psybull. I think a lot of us were wondering how it would go, especially since it seems that Guy can sell everything he can physically produce with no end in sight. Amazingly high saturation level for S!K products, a good testament to the quality.

I think that will help simplify things and keep a lot of the confusion down that comes with the multiple runs. Also, I hope the Monday sales are a permanent fixture. They work for me, thanks for doing them.
