Well I wanted to do some comparisons of the LEASH1 and the SFNO so I got everything out. I figured while it was out I might as well take some snapshots of my humble collection. Not what I would call HOG status but it makes this piglet smile.
As far as the LEASH1 beating out the SFNO .errrrr I may have spoke too soon on that. Im sure the LEASH1 will have its place as being a sought out knife it might even be able to give the SFNO a run for its money, but replace it? No, not likely. The SFNO is one of those knives that just doesnt have a replacement and I suspect it never will. It truly is in a league of its own. Dont get me wrong, Im still pretty overwhelmed by how cool the LEASH1 is. Im looking forward to using it too find out just how well it performs, but I think for me at least it has already served a great purpose .it has prevented me from breaking down and using my SFNO! And that alone makes it a very worthy knife.
So far one thing Ive found out about the LEASH1 is that its tip strength is not what Im used too with the thicker blades and I need to be aware of that when using it. The LEASH1 comes to a pretty thin point, at least as far as the larger Busses Ive had or held. It makes for a more aggressive looking knife and I imagine its ability to pierce is better but care should be taken when pulling it out of wood. A gentle side to side wobble is a lot better than snapping it out. Yeah, it has a nice little crease in it now.
No worries, the power of INFI is strong in this blade. Handle comfort on this knife is really good but I dont think Ill be doing much chopping with it; my mitts have just enough breathing room in between beak and talon hole. She does feels very light and fast in the hand, which I really like. The SFNO isnt as quick as this blade, its amazing how knocking of a inch or two can change a knife. Ok
Ive gone on way too long; this was supposed to be more of a picture thread than review. The jury is still out on many things for the LEASH1 but one thing is for sure
.I have found my new user!
