Any idea of how long the diamond Sharpmaker stones will last? The diamonds are hard; however, they are attached to something and the could potentially wear off. I know the medium ceramic stones will eventually wear out and the fine ceramic stones will last a long time. Just curious about the life of the diamond stones.

We don't have enough history to say for sure at this time. All of the procedures are "done right" to insure the longest possible life.

Diamonds stones will naturally "cap" for a while, but should reach a stable level. Only time will tell. pressing too had (much easier to do with the sharpmaker than with a flat stone) should be avoided. The diamond cannot cut into the steel any deeper than the length of the diamond, so pressing harder doesn't cut faster, it just works the diamond bond harder.

I have found that 15 or 20 strokes will bevel most dull edges.

I have replaced the gray stones in my set with the diamonds.
