It's unanimous! ... three independent readings of the same temperature in my kiln. Mind your temper.

What made you smile today?

What made me smile? Finding out that a contentious meeting with an account team isn't happening this morning after all... it's Thursday.

Of course it is, Rick! What day did you think it was? Monday or something? My kiln came with a needle pyro, exactly like yours, and just like you, I verified my kiln's TC with the needle pyro and a new digital pyro....all read the same....it is smile generating!!!

I woke up above ground. Sometimes that's enough ;)
This guy woke up above ground, too.

While it was yesterday when this happened, it made me smile!

Yesterday at church I had a discussion with a friend of mine who works in some sort of industrial setting machining parts out of steel. He asked me if I had ever used foil to add carbon to my steel. What what what? Yeah, man. Wrap your blade in stainless steel foil, put some charcoal or other carbon material in there, bring it up to temp, and it will add carbon to your blade!!! No, it doesn't work that way. Yeah, we do it all the time where I work!!! No, I don't think there is any way that a knifemaker is easily going to add carbon to his blade. Yeah, you're having to deal with decarb, so just reverse the process!!! Um.........nope. Sure try it out!!! Um.......nope.

You can always add carbon to the outside of a piece of steel. Just be careful not to wipe it off.

Finishing two knives for others (my wife and my friend) yesterday. Something about meeting expectations makes my day.

Sold several knives and now have a well stocked fridge and money for for materials, and then some...
I'm eating a mushroom/black olive omelet with cheddar, sourcream and Sriracha right now and that makes me happy.

I forged, ground out, and heat treated two camp blades in just under one hour! The bad part is that now my wife expects that kind of output, all the time.:p

You are so walking into a great joke that I won't hit you over the head with.
what made me smile is listening to my daughter giggle when I kissed her neck this morning. Great day is any day I get to spend time with her and the wife.

That's cool, Greg. As Rick said, the "little things" are what really matter in life :)

When I have a particularly productive day, I'm very careful to not brag about it... for precisely that reason ;)

I'm modding my grinder after the last glass platen broke. Different design this time and it is working out!
That makes me happy.
I also made a new window for the barn where I have my workshop. It looks like it has been there the last 100 years and it looks good.
Makes me feel proud since no one ever taught me how to do that. :)

I finished two as well... but it seems less impressive now that they were stock removal and it took 3 hours to have em ready for HT which I send out for still. So I guess i'll call it a personal best :D but at least I got off work early and sometimes that's enough too.
