So basically, I just read a post by another member and decided to tell a quick story.....

Ever since I saw one, I wanted a blue Manix, the new lightweight guy. To me, the blade shape, the feel, the lockup was just a home run. Well, come Christmas time, I was hustling pretty hard to make my way up to NY, where I'm from to see my family. While talking with my girlfriend she kept asking me for ideas, Ideas etc.... Well, I finally caved and told her I wanted this Manix... A Blue one. I probably sent her 50 knives to look at as we were online and talking through the phone so sure enough, you need things to look at and discuss right?

Anyway, Christmas day! She hands me the last package and sure enough, It's a spyderco box...... I open it, I'm giggly and lo and behold, A black plain blade manix 2. She looks at me SO excited that she got it and asks me if I like it........

Friends, To be perfectly honest, I Didn't. I wanted one of those blue ones so badly I could taste it. I didn't want a plain manix (Already had several included an XL) I wanted that one blue one. All the same, my girlfriend went out of her way to try and find one and she did, She made it happen and without a shadow of doubt, I KNOW I sent her a black manix one time to show her what they are and then maybe 100x I mentioned the blue frn guy...

I looked her dead in the face and told her it was perfect and it will be put to great use, who was I to upset her?

FAST Forward, (Sorry but this is a long story)

While on vacation, I worked out a trade with a gentleman for a Titanium Ti-Lite...... I wasn't thrilled at the trade offer and he said to pick from a photo of knives he had... I Hadn't carried the titanium guy in forever so I figured let someone else enjoy it (Mind you they were pulling $200.00 on evilbay at the time) So a para2 user wasn't making me feel awesome. In the spirit of Christmas I told him "Surprise me"...

When I return home, I open his package and what do I see........a blue lightweight manix. I didn't ask for one, mention one or nothing. Something in the universe knew I wanted that damn manix..... someone, something had a plan. To say I was overjoyed that's an understatement. It's crazy how things happen sometimes, stars align etc but all in all, I love the fact that one of my favorite knives is the first one my girlfriend gave me and that wouldn't be possible if she didn't make a mistake..... maybe she didn't... who knows.

Thanks for listening.

cool... Something special when you nab that special knife.

Its a great feeling...

Nice story! Wish that could happen to me, but with a Phoenix... haha.

Good for you Reignman. Sounds like you earned some good karma along your life's journey, and it came right back to ya. Maybe a little serendipity mixed in as well.

Great story. Karma.

My life works the other way. I get the irresistible impulse to buy a knife. I can't find exactly what I want, so I settle for one of my back-up "wants". Then, the very next day, my dream knife appears for sale but I already blew my budget on my second best knife. Happens more than once.

I'm with dead man's hand and Mr. resistance is futile above, I think this is an example of karma coming back to you. Thanks for sharing.

Great story! I have stuff like that happen with vintage synthesizers, but it hasn't happened with knives yet (maybe soon!). I've been eyeballing the blue lightweight Manix as well, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed, hehe!

Congrats on the mystic knife!

You said it.

Ebay kicks butt as long as you have a brain and know what you are doing. To be blunt Im sick of people posting evibay/egay/enay & the likes so I figure Ill start being a butthead as well from now on out when I see the reference. Thanks for the motivation and sounds like you have a cool gf.
Regards from a lover of ebay

I felt just like you when you got your Blue Manix, except I got a Brown Skyline.

Although I doubt I could find any around $300 by this point, nevermind the fact that I don't have anything worth enough to trade for it.

...or that special girl. I truly enjoyed your story. Perhaps the stars do align on occasion.

Oh yeah, that Phoenix? I had one NIB that I bought here. It was a bit strange, had a hard time selling it for $160 or so...

One man's treasure????

Yeah, THIS man's treasure! I'd have killed for a chance to pick it up for that little! It just fits so perfectly in my hand... I had a chance to handle one at a store... should have nabbed it while it was there.

I believe in karma and if I have a knife someone really wants I try my best finding them one even if it means selling my own to them , in the hopes that when I want a knife my good actions will come around and if it makes them happy, I'm happy..

I hear that bud! Amen. I bought the composite 350 I wanted since I knew what one was only to gift it to my best friend on his birthday. Not a day goes by he doesn't remind me how much better it is than anything I have..... Damnit lol
