I just got used AFCK. Its in a D2 blade. The blade is pretty messed up. Will Benchmade Life Sharp still replace my knife blade for the $35? I know they no longer make this model just wondering if they would still be able to replace the blade?

thanks

Benchmade will replace the blade if they still have any left.

The best thing to do is call them and ask. I've done that before with an older knife to see if they could even replace it before I sent it in.

If you don't mind my asking, what's wrong with the blade? It may be something they can fix up for you if it isn't too bad.

Its pretty chewed up. The last owner tried to make tiger stripes by stripping some of the blade coating. I will see if I can get some pictures later.

I can't say for sure what BM can and can't do in your case but I was pretty impressed once when I sent in a knife that I thought might not be reparable.

Never hurts to call them and ask, but make sure to ask for a tech in customer service. Otherwise you'll get the standard "Sent it in" response. A tech will speak with you and offer an opinion on what they think they may be able to do.

Like I said, if they can, they will go out of there way to help you in anyway they realistically can.

Wow, well, I know they don't refinish blades so your options may be limited.

Still worth calling and seeing what they say.

To tell you the truth, even in it's current condition I'd still be happy to have it. I hope they can replace the blade for you but as you said if they can't you'll still have a good user knife.

Best of luck!

Acid etch it. Looks like a perfectly good blade to me. It is a coating, which they will all scratch. Ask yourself this, DOES IT STILL CUT?

I would make it a project. The blade still has a lot of life left in it. Strip the remaining coating off, trying to save the BM and D2 markings, and sand it to a brushed finish of your choice.
Then again, I fully understand wanting to replace it.

Benchmade only has so many replacement blades in stock, this knife is long discontinued. Can't hurt to call them and ask though.
