Tonight, I was out by the fire. Enjoying a Saranac Pale Ale,

Making the best of the last decent day I will probably see for a while. Not too long after dark the stars were out. It was super clear.

Directly above my house was the Big Dipper. Sometimes when you look at it, it is easy to see. Tonight it was in your face. Low on the northern horizon. It appeard to be huge. Right over the house, it went from end to end with stars left over on both sides.

A fire, a beer, and the stars are some of my simple pleasures.

What are some of yours? Low tech, no money, just simple things that you enjoy. The things that make life worth living.

A good walk in the woods, see some wild life, time by myself.time to think, or not think.

I love it. I need to get out more often and just sit around a fire with my wife. :-) Especially with this cold front coming through!

I recently joined my rural fire department (part time) and the experience has been a wonderful reminder to enjoy the time we have. The sunsets, clouds, and stars have never looked better. I've always had a special place for flowers in the garden (I hybridize daylilies), fresh eggs from my backyard flock, time for fishing and of course family.

Life is good! Enjoy the "present"

Edit - as I didn't want to leave out knives. Sharp steel is such a simple pleasure.

Playing with my 4 month old grandaughter, enjoying a plate of hotwings, watching a movie with my wife.

One of my favorite past times is taking my son deep in the mountains and just sitting there, silent and still and listen to the sounds of the forest, watch the wildlife, and hike around. very simple, we leave it how we found it.

For me, it is too, LostViking, For me I feel we came from nature...she is a mother to me, quite a few times a year I need to the Sierra Nevada mountains and recharge my soul.

I'd say an Old Hickory is a simple pleasure. I just picked up the 8" slicer. Where have you been all my life, Old Hickory?

It's cool that you know the big dipper. I was into astronomy before I got into knives. Orion is a great constellation to look for this time of year. It's to the south.

I work in a city and live in the woods, about 50 minutes away. My simple everyday pleasure is the last 10 minutes of my drive home. Once I see these beautiful trees and big mountains near the house it gives me a sense of relief, that my wife, dogs and a cold a beer are waiting literally just around the bend.
