Im considering sending in my griptilian for a little spa treatment. Ive heard so many conflicting accounts on the reliability of the lifesharp service, Im hoping to get a nice list of recent experiences, whether they be positive or negative. So who has what to say about lifesharp? Would you recommend?

I've had good experiences with life sharp. Once though they did tend to sharpen off a lot of steel off the blade. Turnaround time has always been quick for me. Other than the over sharpening that one time I only good things to say. Your knife will be like new when it's returned.

Going into my 10th catalog year; and collecting most of the Benchmades within, I can say the LifeSharp (support) program is a winner. Combine superb customer service, with a nearly flawless delivery of quality repairs - some as a result of my clumsy attempts at tech work... With the exception of only one model they couldn't repair, which was graciously replaced by a knife of my choice. So out of that 99%, every other instance delivered in good time, complete with documentation, and with the promise to do even better next time. This has proven to be the standard over time, and not an exception.

Send a knife up to fix an out of center issue, to find all springs, screws and pivot replaced? Never mind sharp out of the box as well? So yes, I tender my YEA vote for LifeSharp, and with many Kudos.

I live less than an hour away from Benchmade, so I take my knives in for sharpening fairly often. They always sharpen them, and hand them back in a matter of minutes. They're a great crew over there, and really do their jobs well, and take pride in it.
As far as the whole spa treatment, I've left a knife with them twice, and then had it shipped back to me fairly quickly. The spa treatment does really make a difference. I had traded for an old beat up 585s mini barrage on Instagram, and when I got it, it was literally in a bag, in pieces. I tried to reassemble it, and I did eventually, but the knife just sucked. I mean the action was terrible and I wanted to cry. So, I took that opportunity to acid stonewash it (terribly) and then I took it to BM. The action is perfect, and other than the shitty pimpjob I attempted (and serrations, but to each their own..) the knife is perfect.

I love Benchmade beyond reason and would agree that their life sharp service is fantastic. For the most part. The exception for me would be with centering issues. I have the worst luck with Benchmade blade centering. Of the dozens I've purchased maybe 3 have been pretty close to centered and 1 was dead on. I have so many bencades whose blades were simply not cut straight so there is nothing that can change that other than replacing the blade. For what I pay for these knives I would like to see 3 or 4 that weren't centered, not the other way around. My 806-1101BT was 1 of only 400 made and the blade was cut so badly it was rubbing on the liners. Benchmade's response was "we don't have any replacement blades so live with it". So when I bought my second 585 and it was also rubbing I called an talked with them about it. They said they don't guarantee "cosmetic" issues. I explained how much money I spend on one of their knives and how many I'd purchased. I also mentioned that their agent I spoke to the first time I sent it in to be centered said "if it's not perfect, it's not right so send it to us so we can make it right". I suggested they discontinue using that phrase if they're going to send it back in the same state and tell me to live with the rubbing. At that point she said "sir you are correct. Send it to us and we will make it perfect". I'm pretty sure they sent a brand new knife that had been verified to be perfect because it was indeed a perfect specimen. They are absolutely wonderful people who do a great job giving a knife a new edge and replacing all internals and screws. I'm just bummed they aren't more interested in maintaining customer satisfaction and their reputation. I guess it feels like I bought a Ferrari only to find it desperately needs an alignment as I drive it out of the showroom. I know these are production knives, but they are EXPENSIVE high end production knives. Hope I didn't get to off topic there.

OK, OK. So far I like. I'm not too anal on centering, as long as there's no rub I'm OK with it a bit off. I'm decent at sharpening but my grip has gone a bit off the rails since I use it as a work knife and I just can't seem to get the tip as sharp as it used to be and the point is slightly blunted. I'd also like a new clip that doesn't have a huge gap before the scale, yes I could bend it myself but I shouldn't have to. If this knife wasn't bright orange, I'd have lost it already with all the times it jumped out of my pocket due the the bad clip. Any other takers?

Write a note telling them what you want done including a new clip. LF is an excellent service.
I also had a few mini Grips that needed to get their factory edge replaced, both k nives had minor tip damage that I hand sharpened to fix. Both Minis came back looking excellent and both got new Omega spring too. Reall fast turn around as well.

I received my Benchmade Kulgera back after they repaired a broken Omega spring. They also sharpened the knife before sending it back. It's decent as far as factory edges go, but I can do a much better job with my Wicked Edge.
