Hi Everybody and fellow Craftsmen (and Craft ladies if we have some ?)

Most of you have seen my Leather/kydex Mutant sheaths

Here is a video of what I do to get a weathered and beat up effect

Pour Gunpowder on the leather part and light it on fire
(don't try this at home.........well unless you think you can, but I did not tell you to)

It gives a semi fast controlled burn. I use smokeless powder, black powder was way too fast.

They turn out pretty unique when they are done.

That's pretty cool. :D

David, how do these sheaths hold up to getting wet? The PNW gets about 9 months of rain.

It would be effected about 50% as an all leather sheath :)

It is half leather half kydex.

I think if you treated the leather part as you would a regular leather sheath you would be fine.

Thank you all for the kind words.

I really like stretching my artistic side.

I can honestly say I have never thought about pouring gunpowder on my sheaths even the ones I've screwed up but now i'm going to have to try it.

I can hear my mom now...'you're going to wet the bed you keep playing with fire!' ;)

But, we all do anyways :) pretty cool and slightly twisted effects there man! nicely done,

Very cool... and love the musical accompaniment... the only other song I can think for this scene would be the old Mission Impossible theme.
