Light My Fire vs Firesteel.com Test

We tested the light my fire army model vs the firesteel.com gobspark model of firesteels. Both worked great but I find that in wet conditions the light my fire was easier to use.

Nice video. I have a GobSpark, and it does throw some impressive sparks, but I've had to really scrape it (the scraper sometimes slides perpendicular to the steel) to get it to work.

I usually cheat and use dryer lint to get the blaze going, though.

My experience was just the opposite. I switched to gobspark from the swedish military firesteels. I was having less than impressive results with light my fire. I noticed the performance wasn't as good as ones I had purchased many years ago.

In cold or wet weather the LMF works much better for me

Perhaps it's possible the couple I ordered could have been a bad batch or something because previous lmf threw excellent Sparks with little effort
