I have a traditional that I really like, but the pull is softer than I like- it is about 3 or so. There have been pages of discussions about softening a spring, but I am having the opposite problem! My (somewhat) logical mind tells me there is no easy way to stiffen up a spring, but I have been known to be wrong frequently. Soooo, is there a way to make the spring tighter?
Edit to add: I contacted the maker, and he said the backspring can't be tightened, only replaced. He did say that it won't wear any noticeable amount in my lifetime though!

this might be more appropriate in the maintenance forum, but just to answer your question...

well, it all depends on the knife you have and if its meant to have a soft pull. a case or buck stockman isnt exactly gonna have the same pull as a heavier knife or gec.
what kind of knife do you have, and what pull do you want it to have?

The knife is a Robinson custom. It's a really nice knife with smooth action, but I just like a little stronger pull.

Not much you can do, it involve in taking the knife apart and dealing with the spring or even replace it. If you know the maker you can ask him.
