Light Therapy Boxes

I hate posting a reply from zero experience, but maybe this will help. A good starter box is the one your insurance will buy for you. Go to a public library and get a Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy. They may keep a reference copy in a locked case, but that's OK. Copy the article on "seasonal affective disorder" AKA winter depression and memorize it. When you talk to your primary care physician, you'll present a textbook case and he/she will tell you what if anything your insurance might pay, and whether you'd need to see a specialist first.

That’s an interesting strategy. I suppose one could call and ask one’s insurance company about coverage — if you can’t find it online— and they *should* be able to answer that and/or provide a list of their doctors who prescribe them.

I called on behalf of someone regarding their apnea machine and the CS person was very to eager to help—his dad has one so he was gung-ho about their benefits.

Use of Ott Lights may help and suppliments of Melatonin . It's one of those things that is varied for the individual

After trying multiple therapy lights available, I found that a grow light worked better than anything else. 250 w hps with a hood. Cost me $50 at local restore

The OTT lights and similar ones are a full spectrum light which matches the spectrum of SUNLIGHT !
BTW in my experiments with CFLs etc I found that GE bulbs gave me a distinct eye irritation ! Checking the GE website there bulbs have a very strong band of green light in the spectrum of a number of their light s. There is a website which confirms that my experience is not unique . For me when reading my eyes blink twice as fast with GE bulbs !! Take care of your eyes !
