Lighted Magnifier Light

I like my mag lamp. It's not for old people, just people that like convenience. If you want to be like the old guys I come across, you definitely need a halogen light attached to that mag. Sure, it may set fire to your work piece. But it has a retro style to it. The one you're looking at is a fluorescent, not to different than what is in my shop. Even without a magnifier, a good light will illuminate a missed burr. Currently still on the lookout for a good bright LED light for my work cart though.

Looks interesting. Hadn't seen one of these swing-arm type lamps with the additional 8X/10X windows. That might be a little more useful. Not such a bad price, either.

The fluorescent bulb in that particular lamp might not be that bad. I was looking at some of the other lamps/magnifiers listed on that site, and see one that looks the same as one I bought a while back, with what seems to be the same, or very similar, bulb. The 13W 'daylight' fluorescent bulb (at 6400 Kelvin 'color temperature') is quite bright, and very similar to true daylight. Considering that the 8X and 10X 'windows' will be used at very close distance to your inspection piece, I think that should be plenty bright.

I use a 4X magnified lamp, (fluorescent) on my sharpening bench and I would be lost without it.

But the lamp in your attachment appears to be superior to mine in every way.

Please give us a report on it at your first opportunity! :):)

Emboldened by the input of you guys, I believe I will order the light. As usual, thanks for the candid opinions.
