I haven't done one of these in a very long time, and only 2 previously. After seeing one featured in Blade mag recently (to my surprise), I got the hankering to do another one. I decided to make this one more of a fighter and less of a chopper. The blade is full flat ground to a very keen edge and I also gave it a tapered tang. This cut the weight to only 17oz!
The handle is some of my exclusive Thunderstorm Kevlar phenolic w/ thin red liners. It has what I would consider a user grade machine finish, that I cold blue and stonewashed. This one feels absolutely deadly in hand, I will have a hard time parting with it.
OAL is 15.25", w/ a 10" blade.
Let me know what you guys think, all opinions are welcome.
Thanks for looking.

Yes yes yes... super nice job man! Hope to see you this April (finally) in Eugene... later

that handle material is VERY interesting!

I like everything about it, but prefer a guard.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I'm with STeven on a guard, everything else looks just great.
Thanks for sharing your work, Ben !

Ben, That knife is just looks like it could do the job just fine. I don't think you should keep it , just send to me and I will take good care of it for you :D also nice choice of handle material.

Thanks for sharing

Thanks very much for the comments and critiques gentlemen!

Love that one very much and I love the ones you already made for me.

On a sidenote: I have to praise your heat treatment, today your Bushcrafter fell on a stone floor, cutting edge first. No chips, just slightly rolled edge, easy to restore.

Same thing happened to my Izula a couple of weeks ago, almost the same scenario, edge first, same height...now it has a major chip.

Great job, Ben.

I like the overall profile, looks like it will really cut.
The handle material looks good as well on this type knife.

Andreas - I am glad to here you are happy with your knives, that they are performing well for you!

And thanks everyone else for the feedback, I appreciate it. I don't use this handle material very often, because I have a very limited supply of it. Its hard to see in the pics, but it actually has brass fibers running through, much like lightening strike carbon fiber. Very cool stuff.
