As some of you may know, I have a fetish for training knives. I shared this with Greg Lightfoot over lunch at the CKG show, much to his amusement. When he stopped laughing, I asked, hey Greg, why dont you make a trainer for me? A Full Contact Fighter trainer would be GREAT! More laughter
followed by a hey, why not! I have never made a trainer and I always like to try new things.
As supreme luck would have it, Greg had some blue G10 in stock and he cooked up my Full Contact Trainer (FCT) in record time!
The blade is 19C27, with a Rockwell hardness of 62, great for edge retention (or in this case, non-edge retention).

Aside from the unsharpened, unground blade, the FCT is identical to a live-bladed FCF. In fact, the FCT incorporates all of the new design elements found on the latest FCFs, such as the milled pivot and slotted overlay
It also features extra heavy duty liners...necessary for the abuse that a trainer suffers (repeated rapid opening / closing, drops to the floor etc.)
Beautiful hand-rubbed satin finish blade with contrasting black outlines over the holes and marked PROTOTYPE
With some of my other trainers for size comparo
Another pic
Now I have to get a matching live-blade! (who is laughing now?)
THANKS SO MUCH Greg for making one of these for me I am honoured to have the prototype!
