Goodmorning,

As I am exploring some possibilities for a new EDC folder, I came along Greg Lightfoots site. I really admire his work. I would like to know if anyone owns or maybe has experience with his knives.

All feedback is very welcome. Thanks!

Greg is the current President of the Canadian Knifemakers Guild and he is a very well known and appreciated maker. He is famous for making super tough folders and outstanding tactical fixed blades. He is also a martial artist and a hunter, ie he uses his knives and isn't just a pretty face. Also a great guy.

I have a few Lightfoots and as always it's a good idea to actually see and handle one or two to get an idea if they suit you. The folders' blades are on the thick and solid side and to my eye they are very sweet. But you should check out the blades and edge geometry of the model you are looking at to make sure it suits your purpose.

I particularly love his fixed blades which just fit me perfectly. I took one with me to Antarctica as my main (off water) knife and I have an old Predator fixed blade and a matching folder in my car and a double edged fighter by my bed, so I likes them alot :).

He has a website of his own as well as on the CKG site and he's good to talk to, but the demand for his knives is pretty heavy Fortunately they are available fairly widely, especially from true North knives up here in Canada, but US dealers usually have a few on hand.

Excellent knifemaker and excellent knives.

PS, welcome to the forum!

greg does real nice work. also check out kirby lambert, you may see something of interest.

I've had the Lightfoot Damasteel fixed blade in the picture for a few years now. It's been used and is one of my favorite carries. The shark skin covered kydex sheath has a techlok (that can be swapped from vertical to horizontal carry) and is the icing on the cake.

If I liked tactical folders I'd be carrying one of Greg's.

i have a lightfoot 458 mag.

great fit/finish, solid lock up. greg makes fine tools.

Thank you all very much for your information. I would off course prefer to check one of his knives out, but the problem is I live in the Netherlands, where there are very few knives shops, even fewer where they sell higher end knives. I have for example never seen a store where they sell sebenzas. So probably I will be selling via internet and so all information about the quality of his knives is very much appreciated!

Correction, I will off course be buying via internet (pardon my english, it's not my native tongue)

I've got a Lightfoot Full Contact. Very nice folder. It's big & sturdy. The flipper doubles as a finger guard. In the beginning the knife would not always lock when I opened it too gently. After some time playing with it, lockup was fine!

Kind regards,

I own and use one of Greg Lightfoot's Suppressors .A exceptionally elegant and useful tool. Greg is also a pleasure to deal with - nice guy and great knives.

I own one of his Pistol Grip folders, and it's solid as a brick sh ... umm, it's very solid :) . It's very smooth-opening, and everybody to whom I've ever handed it has gripped the handle and said, "Aaah" -- it's that comfortable, and just feels that right in the hand.

I own 3 Lightfoots... A fixed-blade 'Woodsman XJ' an 'M1 spearpoint' folder, and a Gen 1 'Catch Dog' folder.

Here's the folders below:

And a crappy pic of this sweet Woodsman with ironwood handles:

I like them all a lot, and have no complaints about any!

I've only read and heard about him all these years but I absolutely LOVE the "Catchdog" folder! To me, the design is built from the ground-up to be a truly "tactical" design if there ever was such an animal.

I met Lightfoot at the CKG show this year and his knives are very nice!! Lambert is also a cool dude with some very nice stuff..

Here's a laminate Lightfoot knife with the handle wrapped by Lambert.. pretty crazy stuff! this is a custom made for RL in the theme of Alien:

I want to grab a Lambert soon:
