Anyone have any experience with Microtech's Lightfoot LCC ??
I bought one about 2 weeks ago and am disappointed in the clip strength. It seems to "spring open" very easily. My dealer said to just take it off and straighten it and reinstall it. This sounds fishy to me. I've e-mailed Microtech to no avail.

Any suggestions?

That doesn't sound right to me, unless the pivot needs tightening. A quality knife from a quality manufacturer shouldn't do that, and someone should respond to you. Telephone them. Email them again. If you get no response, let us know. I also think the dealer's response is unsatisfactory. You shouldn't have to rework a knife he sold you to make it safe; he should stand behind the sale. He's probably primarily responsible here. That's, of course, if there really is something substandard with the knife. Let us know what happens.

LArry - welcome to the forums. My LCC came with that skeletonized clip and I called MT and asked them to send me a non skeletonized clip, which they did. It's the same profile as the original clip without the skeletonized portion. Try calling them and asking for this clip: 561.569.3058. Hope this info helps.

I have heard that the skelitonized pocket clips were weaker, and bent easier than the solid ones. I have both, and the solid one is defenitly a good bit stronger, but have not had any problems with the skelitonized one. I have carried the skelitonized clip more often, and so far it has not bent at all. I would say that if it is only the skelitonized clip, then call Microtech for a solid one.

Larry,
It seems that you have an exception to the rule. The small size
and strength of thr clip is one of the LCC's strong pionts.I agree
with the others that youe dealer should make it right to your satisfaction.

First off, thanks to all who responded to my post so quickly! I received a reply to my THIRD e-mail to Microtech apologizing for the delay, citing e-mail volume as the reason but sounding very sincere at the same time. A replacement clip (assumed to be solid and not skeletonized) is on the way. Thanks again for the support and suggestions!

The clip on mine is also busted. I too emailed MT without receiving reply. Maybe I should keep bugging them. Do you know if they have a limited time on the warrantee? Mine was bought 2 years ago.

The problem with the clip as I see it is that one, it's weak, and two, it sticks out making it more likely to catch onto things. Great knife otherwise though.

I also had the problem described above with the skeletonized clip. My advice is to call their customer service number, I had much better luck with the phone than I did sending emails. On the plus side I shipped the knife to them and they replaced the clip for me for free. All I had to pay was the shipping charges.

Received a replacement clip in the mail yesterday; exactly like the original except minus the skeletonizing. I'll probably just keep it in backup until the sexy original clip fails again.
Hint to those trying to e-mail Microtech......
my third try was merely a question as to whether or not anyone was reading their e-mail. :-)
