Hello,

I saw a particular website was selling Lightning D/A OTF knives, are they OK in California, or are they classified as switchblades?

If the blade can be opened or extended by a spring and if the spring can be activated by a mechanism with your thumb or finger, then yes it is considered a "switchblade" in California.

In california it is illegal to carry a "switchblade" if the blade is 2 inches long or longer. If the blade is under 2 inches long then it's legal to carry.

It's legal to own switchblades with blades 2 inches or longer in CA, but you have to keep them at home and you can't have them in a vehicle. It's also illegal to sell, transfer, lend, or in any way give another person a switchblade with a blade 2 inches or longer.
