Lights and watches

I know we've got threads going on both, but wanted to ask specific questions.

1.) Flashlights -- does anyone use a Fenix PD-30 or LD-20 light? They look about the right size and have good output.

2.) Watches. I normally use pocket watches because I have ginormous wrists (seriously, like 8.5" circumference). Does anyone know of watchmakers that make man-size wrist straps. I want something synthetic, as the expandable metal ones are hell on my hair, and my sweat just rots leather. I used to like, I think they were called shark bands, but haven't been able to find any locally to try and make sure they fit. Any ideas?

I have the PD-30 on my duty belt. What do you need to know? Cheap, throws lots of light, super small. Still on my 1st set of 123s and have a LOT of burn time on them.

I have a PD20.. not a 30, and Timex fits my hambone wrists just fine. I don't know how big my wrists are though but they aren't tiny either.

The PD20 is more light than I'll ever need. I love it.

Wanted to know if it's tough, if you actually get the advertised burn time, if it's nice and brite, etc.

I was looking at Surefires, but I notice the Fenix lights, for the most part, put out considerably more light, and cost 1/3 as much. Just wondering what the downside is.

For the flashlight what are you using it for? I have a fenix l2d, and a light similar to the pd-30. The pd30 is just an ld20 with a different body tube. They're actually interchangeable if you want to get both.

as for the watches, Nixon makes manfully banded watches. I havnt heard much about them around forums. but I used to be going through an iron man a year. Current Nixon scout has held up on its 3rd year now without a scratch.

The answer to your watch band question is the Maratac watch band. You can find them here http://www.countycomm.com/zulu.htm or here http://www.broadarrow.net/maratac.htm.

I've used the Zulu 2 buckle and 4 buckle on different watches. I prefer the 2 buckle. They hold up extremely well. They seem to conform to the wrist better than rubber or metal bracelets causing them to be more comfortable to wear. When mine gets dirty, it gets squirted with stain remover and thrown in the washing machine.

For manly sized wrists, you could get the Nitrox-17 and trim it to suit your wrist.

Another nice feature of the longer straps is to allow wearing the watch on the outside of jackets and winter coats. I prefer to do this instead of trying dig under sleeves and gloves to check the time.

Good luck.

I love my fenix p3d, had it a year. It's like having the son in your pocket. Bright, 220 lumens. I have a couple of others and have given them as gifts. They rock. I wish Americans could make such things for even close the price. It's a flashlight for heavens sakes. Streamlights costing twice weren't even close in brightness or features. Check out Brightguy.com.

i think we've found sasquatch!
LOL! Indeed! I too am challanged with excessive girth of the wrist! 9 inches! Watch bands are typically 9.5 to be comfy. The Maratec are well made and come in large sizes for divers and astronauts. They can handle any wrist size out there. I usually go for the rubber diver bands. Easier to clean.
