I picked up a piece of Carbon Fiber at blade, from Chuck Bybee at Alpha knife Supply. He told me, "You gotta check this stuff out.. It's the coolest C.F. ever!!" He went on to explain that it is carbon fiber with bronze wire woven into it. Chuck said it is used on the new Boeing 777 to diffuse the electricity if the plane should happen to get struck by lightning. Hence, the name. " Lightening Strike.
I figured what the heck.. I would give it a try.
This is what some of it turned out to be. All I could say when it was done was HOLY COW!!!!
I called Chuck up right away and ordered some more!!
Believe me when I say the photos don't even begin to do this stuff justice. It becomes totally 3 dimensional when it gets moved around a bit..

Closed length is 4". Open length is 7 3/8". With a 3 3/8" blade of bead blasted CPM154.
Liners are .050 bead blasted ti. A ti thumb stud back spacer and tip-up pocket clip finish it off.

Thanks for looking and let me know what you think...

that is a winner for sure, love that design and the materials are awesome.

I keep coming back to this carbon fiber. I've been wanting it bad ever since Chuck sent the email about it. Your photos aren't helping.

Maybe I'll just get a little bit. (I feel a little like a drug addict.)

Hey Jon,
IT IS REALLY COOL STUFF.. PROBABLY BEST YOU DON'T SEE IT IN PERSON. YOU'LL WANT TO KEEP IT ALL FOR YOURSELF!!!!
How's the sunny California coast treatin' ya???

It's ok. It was actually cloudy and misty all week with highs in the low 70's. It would be better if I could ever leave base to enjoy the ocean and sun though. All week we were training the ocean was 2 miles away!

That's their form of mental torture!!! :) :) At least it isn't 108 on the coast like it is in the valleys...

Hi Emerson -

It will be a little while, but Phillip has an M4 Ritter Griptilian (full sized) and he is doing the lighting strike carbon fiber on it.

Should be spectacular!

best regards -
