When I find gear that works for me I have a tendency to use it until it is COMPLETELY worn out or broken. Probably some type of character flaw on my part but so what?

Apparently it is time for a boot replacement (check the level of wear on the old) and sometimes one must surrender to another person's recommendations. Great of her to take some extreme initiative.

The old boot is the Adidas GeoFit. A light weight hiker that has served me VERY well. The new boot is the Eddie Bauer Bradley, a slightly heavier boot that is touted as "waterproof" and that has more leather on the upper than the Adidas had.

As can be seen, the Adidas GeoFit has been gradually breaking down over time:

The change out to the Eddie Bauer Bradley:

Yes,yes, I have heard some INTEREST in how the first video above opens and thank you gentlemen and lady. ;)

Approximately 3 weeks of almost daily wear (average of 8-14 hours per day) or about 6 days per week of the Eddie Bauer Bradley in urban and rural environments. No trail time yet.

So as an update; The boot averages just about correct in US size (in other words it does not appear to "run small or large") so a 9 fits as a 9, a 10 fits as a 10, an 11 fits as an 11 and most likely so on...

Vehicle Driving has been more comfortable for me than most hiking style boots.

Although this is NOT a cold weather boot. The Eddie Bauer Bradley made for relatively comfortable short term footwear in 27 degree Fahrenheit / -2.8 Celsius conditions. The tread did not gather too much snow (approximately 0.5 inch / 1.5 Cm depth) and remained water resistant but definitely NOT a long term boot in snow/freezing weather.
