I was lucky enough to pick up a LW police at my LGS last night. This is the smoothest opening FRN knife I have had straight out of the box. Fit and finish is excellent. It's a big, sharp lightweight beast.

I have been waiting for an "endura like" Spyderco with a 4" plus blade for a long time. The Police 4 LW is a must have for me. Glad they went VG-10 for the opener, the K390 (as awesome of a steel as it is) was a deal breaker on the P4 for me bc I live in such a humid environment. As a side not, I've realized something after having the 110v military in pocket every day for the past 6 months, Sal Glesser knows how to design a damn good folder!

Sounds good!

I received mine two days ago, and IMO, this knife is a winner. I switched the clip from tip-up to tip-down carry, because in the tip-down position, there is less wear on the pocket when pulling it out. I’m so glad that Spyderco came out with this model. I know it’s way too early, but I’d like to see a Salt version with LC200N steel.

The phone app let me know when the Lightweight Police 4 was in, so I bought 2 while waiting to get my son at football practice. I am an Endura fan and this new knife is that and more. I changed the pocket clips right away to MXG Black Powder Coated Deep Carry. I look forward to the variations in steel and scale colors. The FRN is up to the task too.

The Police 4 lightweight is what I've always wished the Endura was. I like the idea of the Endura, but wish it were Little longer with a 50/50 choil and especially WITHOUT THE POINTED FINGER SCALLOPS. The peaks land right on my fingers, causing hot spots. I actually sanded them down on my endura. Looking forward to trying the police 4 lightweight.

Just got mine it. I love it! Extremely light for its length but does not lack torsional rigidity, not "flimsy" at all. It has a similar feel as what you would expect a larger Endura to feel like but I think most would say it has better handle ergos because of lack of the somewhat pointed ridges on the Endura handle, although the Endura handle has always felt perfect to me if you are holding it correctly. The blade stock is thin so I am sure it will be an amazing slicer, like a 4.5" FFG delica. The tip, although very pointy, seems a little less delicate than on my military (hopefully I will never test this theory, Ive already reprofiled tips on my millie, delica and pm2.) I love the VG-10 since I plan on using the hell out of it and easily bringing it back to razor sharpness, although the thought of a zdp-189 version makes my pants tight. So I guess Ill step up and add some pictures to this thread. Thanks Sal for making another perfect folder.

Hi Oxman,

Thanx for the kind words and thanx for the support. The P4 is one of those designs that I designed for me and my preferences. I carry one quite often, though I believe it is not legal due to blade length.

Sal, I always thought that the P4 was not really for me...mostly because, mistakenly, I thought the blade would be flimsy-ish.

When I got it my first impression was: "Why did I wait so long?"

Great knife.

(I'm happy to have the G10 P4...with more K390 inbound via the PM2 currently to complete the trio with the Urban.)

Thank you for the reply, and you’re welcome. I’ve always been partial to the no frills, “it just works” characteristics of the knives like the military and Endura models, and this one fits right in with that. I don’t think you have to worry about blade length, chances are the police officer would have a Spyderco in his pocket too! Btw I want to throw my vote in the hat for a serrated version for the other pocket. :)
