Lightweight SAK or multi-tool - with a pocket clip?

I typically carry two knives on me wherever I go - one in both front pockets, one built for harder cutting and one built for finer cutting. Good system, but I keep running into situations where I essentially need scissors and/or a cheap, sharpened pry bar (split rings, man. Useful but sometimes aggravating to add things to)

So, I'm in the market for a lighter thing to put in my rear back pocket. It has to be relatively light, and a pocket clip is a must if I'm going to carry it with all the other stuff I have on me at work (Two knives, about a pound of keys, a phone, a wallet, sharpies, gum, lip balm, a folding utility knife...). I'm looking at ≤4oz - which, I know, right away excludes half of the multi-tools on the market with their average weight being over 6oz. SAKs seem like a good choice, but they don't have pliers. If the cost of pliers is my pants falling down, though, it's not worth considering.

Get a Leatherman Style PS and use the carabiner as a clip. Or get a Leatherman Squirt PS4 and a TEC P7 clip.

Leatherman Style PS or CS. Or maybe get a belt holster for a full size multi tool and dump one of the knives. Skinthsolutions makes belt holsters that can carry a multi tool, knife and everything else under the sun.

My Skeletool has a clip.

Ah, I see now that there is a pocket clip, but in so many of the pictures I get on google image search, there isn't.

I do like the CX... 55 bucks for a 154CM blade, and a bunch of other tools as well.

EDIT: Damn! 5oz weight, even with the Carbon Fiber handle :(

The Skeletool is nice with its interchangeable driver bits, but for a bit more fixed utility in a similar size and weight, look at the Leatherman SideClip. It's retired, but sells for a fair price and has a great clip on it. It is very close to the weight of the Skeletool, however, so possibly still to heavy for you.

Consider a Leatherman Juice S2 or Victorinox Deluxe Tinker, and then just use a NiteIze eClipse -- it just uses adhesive, but from everything I've read, the thing is bulletproof and won't come off for the world.

Also, for pocket/keychain sized tools, consider a Lucky Line Flex-O-Loc keyring instead of a split ring. I've been using one forever and it's fantastic. Very secure and super easy to open and close; I can take the Widgy bar off of mine in about two seconds.

Leatherman Kick (retired), Charge, Surge, and newer Wave all have a $5 pocket clip accessory that you can buy direct from the factory or your favorite online retailer.

My personal favorite, at the moment, is the Leatherman Juice S2. There's no clip but you can get a $5 leather sheath. It's at a great crossover point between size/weight and functionality.

Also, my recommendation is to get a multitool and get rid of two of the knives you carry. Unlike my old Gerber multi-tool, the Charge/Surge/Wave are all one-hand opening and accessible without "flipping" open the pliers. A multi-tool and your folding box cutter are a formidable duo, no need for two more. Just an idea...

Edited to add: when I say get rid of two of the knives you carry I don't mean get rid of them; I mean put them in a drawer and cycle through them depending on the attire/activity. Don't get rid of them!

Please - you couldn't get me to stop carrying dedicated pocket knives even if Leatherman made a $2 multitool that weighed nothing and was made out of unobtanium. I'd still walk the aisles flipping my Southard or Ram. There's just something I've yet to define that I like about pocket knives that multitools - even those with knives - just don't have. Form? Maybe, but there are some pretty handsome multitools out there. Function? The dedicated pocket knife will lose to any multitool as far as variety of uses goes. Price? Multitool = less than 60 bucks, most of my knives are over 60 bucks... I don't know. Yeh can't make me leave them at home, though. If my pants had 20 pockets and wouldn't fall down, I'd have them all on me all the time.

I kinda like the idea of having a lefty knife, a righty knife, and a multitool. At work, add on a folding utility knife for cutting tape and cardboard, and that's all of my front and back pockets loaded up with tools.

When I was eight, I watched a lot of Star Trek TNG and decided I wanted to be a borg - with all the tools and stuff just right there on your arm.
Clearly, this has not changed as I have aged. I even have an internet phone so I can communicate with the collective.

Hmm. That was really off-topic. /shrug

Or, just get a dangler-type clip for a SAK... Not sure how much the Deluxe Tinker weighs, but that has pliers (the 3-layer Super Tinker is a little under 3oz, and the Deluxe adds a layer). Or maybe a Leatherman Squirt PS4 w/ a dangler clip.

With all the other stuff you're carrying, perhaps if weight is a big issue, look at lightening something else rather than your multi-tool. Most multi-tools also have a serviceable blade, so maybe you can drop one of the two knives, or maybe the folding utility knife.

 Grocery store aisles?

Local pet store aisles, heh.
They talked about banning knives there after someone hurt themselves on the job, but, I'd already turned 3/4 of the store onto knives months ago by giving out some SanRenMus I had kicking around.

They didn't get any kind of support for the ban, and it was immediately dropped. They're flips of triumph when I play with the Southard.

Man, that's what I'd call ideal working conditions.

But back on topic, just get the Leatherman Style PS. Use the carabiner and clip it to a belt loop instead of a pocket (saves pocket space too). It has pliers and scissors, and it weighs next to nothing. Judging by your knife carrying habits, I doubt you'll need another blade on your new multi tool.

As for pry bar... If it's something you can't comfortably pry with your knife, it's a job for a tool designed for prying... or a screwdriver/chisel from the dollar store.

I'm a fan of Swiss Army Knives, too. I can't bring myself to pry with my EDC knife but there's a flat-head screwdriver on my SAK that works perfectly for anything that needs more than a knife blade but less than a crowbar.

The OP would like a clip on a SAK.

So would I.

I put NiteIze clips on my SAK Spartan and Leatherman Juice - they work.
