Lignum Vitae and your Sebenza or Mnandi or any Lignum....

I post this as a suggestion from a fellow member (2Dead) regarding a discussion we had earlier today. It has been written that Lignum wood turns "greener" over time when exposed to light and UV. Has anyone had experience with their Lignum changing colors, ie;, getting greener, darkening or turning green from brown or yellowish green?

I decided to post in this forum because I noticed Lignum being more widely used on CRK knives than anyone else.

As this was my suggestion I should post... I have a Mnandi born on 6/29/11 but only received it a few months ago. It already had a yellow-green color. I haven't noticed it change myself. Perhaps some of the older ones had noticeable changes?

I love the feather grain!! It's only the densest, heaviest wood in the world ;-)

That lignum is some good looking wood, I do not have one, but wanting one with damascus one of these days.

Sorry for the doubletap. I'm on my kindle and it's acting dumb.

I have a Bark River Bravo-1 in lignum vitae, and over the years it has turned quite green. I don't find it to be particularly good looking, but man is it tough. Seriously, it's like solid steel. It is also quite waxy, I find that it is grippy even when wet. For a User knife, it doesn't get much better. I have used my Barkie hard a lot, for several years- it's my main outdoorsy knife. And those lignum vitae scales just won't quit. That knife will outlive me for sure.

Bluesummers, that is a BEAUTY!

Here's my Lignum Vitae....it's not green yet, but here's hoping:

Thanks, I was looking for a Box Elder *like everyone else does* the dealer said that he had a Box Elder and Lignum Vitae with a really pretty grain pattern and decorated pivot. Unseen, I said that I would take them both. The LV is my favorite.

Here's some pics of mine. I think mine is only slightly green. But then again, I've been told that I'm color blind. I've had it for a couple of years now.

I have a pair of large and small LH LV Classics. I'll try to get a pic or two up. One has the "feather" grain, the other doesn't. The one with the feather grain has a slight green tone, while the other is very tan/brown. LV is a great wood. I keep thinking about getting a matching Mnandi. :)

That was a good move on your part!
