Some time ago I mailed to STR a "stock" Spyderco Jess Horn with ZDP189 blade so that it could be clad with scales from the Mighty Lignum Vitae tree....
This could be my most favorite all time Clipit to date even though its clipless :D:cool: Steve, just thought I'd let you know its still getting plenty of pocket time and use... ;) thanks again ... :)

Wow! They always look so much nicer when someone else takes the pictures!

Lignum is my favorite wood. I am reminded of why when I get nice shots like that to view. Thanks for sharing those my friend. I am pleased you are happy with the folder. I am also thrilled to hear its getting used. Once a folder is modified like that that is all it should ever be really so its good to hear.

I have my own Jess Horn I redid in ti that I had for sale but its not moving so I guess I'll be keeping it afterall. I had mine done with a Krein re-grind. You might consider it only don't ask him to take it quite as thin as mine. I'd opt for slightly thicker at the edge if I had to do it again.

 Great looking knife! Thanks for sharing.

Back when I worked in cabinet shops in the 1990's, I was sampled a 4-lb. block of Lignum and a 1-lb. block of Cocobolo. I've saved them all these years for that time eventually when I can rescale some of my knives with them. I either gotta get busy and do it, or find somebody like STR to do it for me . . .

Everynow and then I'll cut or sand a piece of lignum in the shop just a little to make it smell nice. I love that wood so much!

I love the smell of that stuff, my wife doesn't. After I'd had the block of it for a couple weeks, I asked the guy who gave it to me how to get rid of the waxy, greasy feel it had. He said "put it in the oven for awhile, kinda low temp, and it should bleed out most of the sap." It did, and gave the whole apartment that nice aroma. Wife comes home, smells it, hates it, and wants to know what I burned, this time. I show here the Lignum, and say "I'm drying wood."

For years after that, when I'd ask what was for dinner, she'd say "wood." The Ren & Stimpy 'Blammo log' commercial had a whole different meaning for me . . . :)
