I get an idea sometimes and for the life of me I can't leave it alone. I lose sleep over it. I obsess over the details. And when the materials I order show up I lose track of time in the shop. I get stuck on point.

Here is the stock Westinghouse micarta. One of the knife suppliers had some in stock. It is 1.5" round so I should be able to cut it to get the edge cut orientation.

Slabs cut and flattened. At this point they are thicker than I need by a good bit. But the outline shows me we'll have enough to work with.

I did a little layout work and drilled some big holes.

A jigsaw cutout the outline of the pocket shape. There was lots of filing and inside profile sanding with a small spindle sander.

I cut out the kidney-bean shaped insert and there was a lot of perimeter shanding to shape it exactly to fit the pocket.

As always, I apprecite the chance to share my work here, and the graciousness of our hosts to let me use this sub forum to show off a little bit. I derive most of my creative outlet, mental therapy, and and enjoyment of fixed blade knives by my strange little woodworking hobby. Thanks to you guys for all the kind encouragement.
