Thought I'd ask folks here since there's a lot of you who have a lot more knowledge than I. Are there any other kukris that have the m 43 blade shape, but with the traditional handle? I've read that the m43 is based on the WWII model, but the m43 has a more nicely curved blade. Thanks!

I can't remember seeing one (but then, my memory is starting to fail me of late). Probably need to be a custom order, or auntie can ask the kamis make a few run of them for those interested.

Of course, it may be awhile, need to help and allow HI to rebuild their production infrastructure. Then we will again be the recipients of these amazing functional works or art.

A samsher or another blade called the curved spine Kukri would fit that bill. I have a curved spine and I'd say it's exactly a M43 with a traditional handle.

Historically, you will see one or two here and there of the M43s with the classic handle instead of full tang and the anti-slip ring.

Well, a samsher is even more curved I think. (Based on what I have.)

But I was thinking about it as well.

Samsher has plenty of drop and definitely has the edge to chop but im pretty sure it is lighter than what you may want for a serious chopper. The M43 may be more towards the heavy chopping end of the spectrum depending on its weight and length. They come 15-18" and can vary considerably from what I have seen lately.

The M-43 can be ordered with a traditional handle. A few members have done so.

Thanks for the replies:) My m43 is about 18.5", not sure of the weight, but it seems heavier than my Salyan Special (which was said to be 27 ounces).

Mine is a Lok M43 18" 33oz, and its a beast! Chops anything and everything. It is also extraordinarily well balanced for such a big blade.
