The UB Birthday Massacre (of my bank account) order arrived today - well yesterday, but I picked it up today.

Capsule Reviews:

15" Sher Ang Khola w/Carved Neem Handle and Silver Fittings
Perfect fit and finish. Blade is a direct scale down from the
16.5" and 20" Sher I have. Lighter and less front heavy than my 15" Kumar AK. Sher makes magical AKs to me, though they are a far cry from the monster choppers I hear about. Wonderful carving and overall fit and finish. Really nice tools - clean and usable (same on my other two sher AKs).

12" Sher Seax w/Neem Handle
This is a long 12"... The exact perfect size handle for my hand - 5" and 8" of blade. I was worried the 12" would be too small (both my Chits and UB special at that size are small for doing stuff with).

31" Bura Nepolean Sword
Nifty little sword. When all you've played with are knives and Kkhukris, it's easy to underestimate what a good light sword can be like. Fit and finish perfect. Guard is funky and I may need to shave the handle a bit to fit my hand. This is a great candidate for rehandling. Maybe replace the guard with something steel and go with a leather wrapped handle.

27.5" Sher Manjushree
Makes me want to sever the bonds of ignorance. Carved dragon on handle, nice guard and blade. Still figuring it all out.

18" Bura Tin Chirra
Makes my Foxy's Folly look and feel like a frying pan. Absolutely gorgeous - three fullers and the engraving typical of the BAS and Chitlangi with a little of the engraving buffed out. Fantastic balance. Black horn handle with the ring in the right place (for me). This is really, really something. I can't believe how good this feels in my hand. Good usable tools.

Dude!

You did WHAT!?!

5? Not bad... Some very nice snags. Congrats.

Especially the AK and the seax. And the swords. Also, the tin chira...

Any pix?

Ad Astra

Perhaps a gentle Drozding.

Thanks for that forum link, BTW, Sat. I'm Ad Astra there as well. Saw the pix of your dye job. Maybe I should get a jazzed up circuit board.

Mike

You definitely should. Postmaster's talking about another run next month. I'll be up for a 1200 rpm mod. 1000 rpm is good...but 1200 is better.

The tin chirra is worth a roughing-up. The tin chirra, AND the AK, AND the Napoleon, are worth a Drozding. SASSAS, you have some excellent pieces there. Good stuff. One can always earn more money. I haven't worked a job yet where they pay me in khukuris.

As Uncle Bill once said, "Debt is good." :)

5 Birthday Specials !

Ms. Yangu does say,

Email for any or all . . . . . .

Guys,

I think we've created a monster

shark :D

Ddean, How true it is. He doesn't discriminate and pick just one model, he buys the whole daily special. :D Some really nice models in there.

Yep, I saw that, but look at the deals he got and the money he saved! Smart move if you know you're going to be getting them eventually anyway. I have pretty much the same set of knives and probably paid at least 50-60% more over time. Yangdu pulled out all the stops on that one for Uncle Bill's birthday, and those prices were unreal.

Norm

It was so hard... I was writing the reply and trying to figure out what I wanted and there was so much and the clock was ticking and I copied the text over and accidentally got them all, then rushed to cut some out, then couldn't decide, then thought about sending for all of them, felt greedy, figured the two swords at least had sat for quite a while the last time they were posted, dropped off the movie specials thought about putting the villager back on, dropped the karda because so many people seem to like them a lot more than I do, I was running out of time and almost accidentally deleted them all, took off the village chainpuri and the village BAS, thought about putting the chainpuri back on, thought about putting the BAS back on, thought about taking the swords off and putting the BAS and chainpuri back on, was going to dump the tin chirra, but they were going to be *ALL GONE*, so off they went... :o
