Well this knife from schrade has peeked my interest. Some of you have seen over in my other thread about fishing, that the sharpfinger is a very popular model.

When i saw the knife i immediately wanted one. However schrade is no longer around:( .

So my question is, what knife is most similar to a sharpfinger in size and materials used?

Not to be a smarty pants... but the best available substitute for a Sharpfinger is a Sharpfinger. As we point out here often, there were millions of those things made. Still available on ebay, in dusty old hardware stores, still get a report now and then of a K-mart that still has them. Not long ago I bought a brand new one, less sheath, at a sporting goods store for $10.

But if you can't find one, I'd suggest the made in the USA, carbon steel 'Grandpa' version by Camillus.

The Camillus version is ver close to the Schrade original. As has been noted, Schrade did work for Camillus, and Camillus did work for Schrade. The Sharpfinger, unless I miss my guess, is one of those high production knives that Camillus occasionally assembled for Schrade from Schrade provided parts, so it would be natural that Camillus already had trained personel, and the required assembly nests and guages for the 152 pattern knives. Even the Camillus number for their version is GP152, quite near 152OT. Another clue to this possibility is the very early introduction of the GranPa series, one of the very first of the Sharpfinger made by another company after Schrade's closing in 2004.

But....as Phil stated, there are beaucoup Sharpfingers out there, and quite cheap if you are just wanting a user, or don't mind it's not coming in a box. I got one a few weeks ago that was near mint for about fifteen and shipping off eBay.

A quick search just now had over 40 hits, including the Chinese copies and replacement sheaths, a few mis-labled 15OTs etc. Maybe four knives were heavily worn, a couple new in the clampack, quite a few in variously aged boxes, and a couple of great deals on near mint used knives.
