Hey Folks-

I wanted to take a minute to introduce a friend of mine... David Lisch. I see he's been posting a bit here lately, and felt he deserved a welcome.

David is one of THE MOST enthusiastic, passionate... just plain NEAT people you will ever get to talk to. His excitement and enthusiasm for all things metal... and just his general demeanor, will definitely leave you smiling. If you see him at a show, look him up, you won't be sorry.

Oh yea... the KNIFE PART... David is a very accomplished metal basher that decided knives might be fun. Lucky for you guys... as it's going to be another source for eye candy.

Keep an eye on this guy :)

Here is a more articulate bit of "stuff" about my buddy David.

Thanks folks :D

I'm sure you'll be seeing more knives here from David in the future!!!

Welcome David - happy to have you here. I look forward to seeing more examples of your work.

Roger

Welcome David. I am anxious to see some of your work. Based on the news link I would guess you do some very interesting projects.

Peter

Yeah. I certainly caught eye of some real talent coming aboard. Hi David! :)

David - welcome aboard. I might want to ask you a few questions on what it takes to set up a shop in Seattle one day.

Wow, and Thank you! I am honored that Nick thinks so highly of me, as he is a great knifemaker and person I am very lucky to know. I have really enjoyed being a part of Bladeforums. The threads are exciting and educational. I hope to share some photos of my new work with you all soon. I have some older work and Ironwork examples on my website, www.davidlisch.com And if you are in the Seattle area, please stop by the shop, I'd love to meet you and give you a tour. Dave

Welcome David. I've seen your website before some time this past year, and I don't remember what lead me to it that previous time. But it did leave an impression back then. Looking forward seeing your bladework.

Its all true. I have talked to him at a couple hammer-ins. David is passionate about his work. He has won awards already and has a good imagination for new things made of steel. Great guy too.
Good to see you here David!

Thanks for extending such a warm welcome guys. David really is the epitome of passionate about his work. He's like that 6 year old kid that is so excited he can hardly keep himself still. ALL the time! I wish I could be so "on" as David. :D

He hooked up with our mutual buddy.... you might have heard of him? Tom Ferry... ;) :D to get a solid start on mosaic steel... and David picked it up and started running.

Glad to see you here David. I'm still waiting for some time off from work, but I'll definitely be driving up to your shop as soon as I can get up there. Now post some knives buddy!!! :D

Dave, David Broadwell speaks VERY highly of your damascus. That tells me all I need to know!

Welcome, David.

I would love to see some examples of the knives you make.

The pattern welded steel on your website looks spectacular.

Dave is a super nice guy with a passion for metal working. In his shop he has multiple bandsaws, multiple grinders, multiple forges, an induction forge, about 10 anvils, a hydraulic press, a big surface grinder, milling machine, a little giant, 150 lb air hammer (approximate weight) and a 350 lb air hammer! Watching Dave use the big hammer is watching a true craftsman at work.

A few years ago I met Dave at a hammer-in. His knives were typical beginner knives. In a couple years time he has progressed from beginner knives to winning Best Fighter/Bowie at the 2007 Montana Knifemakers Show. His winning knife had a mosaic damascus blade, wrought iron fittings and a sambar stag handle. The knife was aesthetically pleasing and felt good in my hand.

As Nick mentioned, Dave learned some damascus techniques from MS Tom Ferry. The quality of Dave's damascus has progressed at an incredible rate. The steel he makes is top quality. His weld lines are invisible and I've never seen a cold shut. His patterns are nicely refined and are not obnoxious. I rate Dave's mosaic damascus very highly.

I personally have enjoyed giving Dave different materials and observing how he uses them. I'm looking forward to inspecting his knives with W2 blades.

Dave is an up and coming knifemaker to watch. I suspect he will have an extensive waiting list before long. Don't wait too long to get on the list.
