Hello everyone, I have been checking out these forums for over a year now, and am not sure why I waited so long to joining up. Needless to say, It's about time, also this forum has turned me into a knife addict. I am starting to have a nice collection of knives forming. Anyway, I would like to ask a question.

How many of you can say that when you have cut yourself it was from an accident rather than doing something foolish?

I have always been very careful with my knives when using them for there intended purpose and have yet to cut myself. But when i start to fool around with them they tend to bite me quite often. Haven't had no major bites, but it lets me know to not disrespect the knife. Just the other day, cutting some tile for a shower, I was using a handcutter and it doesn't leave a very smooth edge and so i would run my thumb down the cut side to see if i need to smooth it up any. Well, just so happened that this one piece wasn't just ruff but sharp and slice my thumb open. I would definitely recommend to try and not get cut on your thumbs, they are used so much and I keep opening the wound back up so it has been a slow healer. Its better now, but figured I would share my experience even though it wasn't a knife, i was doing something i consider foolish. Have a good day!

Welcome, glad you joined. Hang around some more and you will discover that we are all pretty good at patching up cuts.

Welcome to the forums! If you have a knife craving, need a low price, and know you're going to cut yourself, save some time and get a knife from New Graham Knives---they come with a free band-aid dispenser! :D I hate slicing my fingers, it turns everyday stuff into a literal pain. They keep opening back up

Stick around and don't be shy.

G'day Jason
Haven't cut myself seriously, a little nick hear and there, but thats to be expected. Yep, them NGK bandaids do come in handy.
Dropped a 6 inch kitchen knife that did the full 3 and a half turns with tuck before pinning my left foot to the floorboards and had a sharpened screwdriver pushed through my chest, puncturing a lung, by a drugged out car theif, but these are stabbing injuries, not a knife enthusiast cut.
Happy collecting, keep em sharp.

Hello Jason. Welcome to the Realm of Knives. Be careful with anything sharp in future. Take care. :)

Welcome to BFC. I hope you're more careful with guns than you are knives. "Getsshotalot" would be a tough name to earn and a tougher one to keep. :p :D ;)

Hello and welcome! :)

I have to admit that the only times I've cut myself at least somewhat seriously, I was doing things that were unsafe and/or stupid.

A snick from a knife probably won't kill you, but it could cause permanent injuries. Slicing tendons or nerves is easy to do, and the effects can be with you for the rest of your life.

ABC - Always Be Careful! :)

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I remember one time a while back, I was trying to open my spyderco police model up with 1 hand using the hole, and my big thumb slipped out of the hole and the blade came back down and cut my middle finger right underneath the fingernail. The spring on that knife is very strong. I hate those knife cuts too, cause the bleed so much. Superglue sounds like a good idea for me as long as I don't glue all my fingers together. :D

Welcome. This is great place to learn. Unfortuantely, you will end spending more money on knifes though :p
