likely an FAQ but a question on what/how/huh?

O.k. so I poked at the sticky threads, likely missed this.

I go to the Busse site and see essentially one model of knife there. Same with the Swamp Rat site.

I also seen a ton of various models mentioned all the time, wide ranging designs.

Is it a case that a given knife is the only knife in a production run at any time and one just waits until a design they want becomes the current run?

Or does one find the model they want and simply pre-order via email or something as a commission?

I don't see any gallery of all the designs (on the business sites) and a way to place a pre-order etc. so does this simply mean, if it isn't in a production run 'right now' it's just not available?

go to the selling exchange on this web site...you will see all the models on the secondary market

but what you said is pretty much true...one model at a time

bussecollector.com has a lot of the models

And yes, a knife has a production cycle and is usually never made again. Some knives, like the SAR 3, are companystore offerings and they usually go quick.

Jerry did say that someday a Small, Medium and Large offerring would be available at all times. It's mostly been two the past year or so. The Company Store gets exclusive offerrings like the NMSFNOs, Skinny ASH-1s and the SAR4, 8, 3 and soon to be 6. Some are Ganzaa only like the SFNO LEs and the recent KZII LEs. Confused yet?

For some reason, the Swamp Rat website doesn't seem to loink to the actual store...

http://www.shop.ratknives.com

There are several models currently in stock. The HRLM & Rodent Waki production has ceased, so they will be unavailable from the factory when gone. The Hairy Carry 4.0 is a limited run, so if they become available, get them when you can. The rest should be available until Eric Isaacson announces that pre-orders are closed. And... see the main site for the current pre-order.

It is a little confusing at first for sure.

There is something about the business model that drives buyers crazy. Something about the random, and usually completely unexpected release of a new model of Infi-Crack, that you may never have a shot at at direct prices causes people to do crazy spending.

Worked for me on the KZII, the B11 and the CABS. Luckily I also snagged a BAD and a Sarsquatch (to of my favorites) at good prices off the exchange.

It is a great time to be an infi buyer. Lots of new models coming quick and fast.

Now, repeat after me.........

"Release the folder!"

A cloven hoof salute for this newbie! He read the stickies and, for the most part, has it figured it out.

Yes

Not gonna happen. IF an old design comes back, it generally is updated, altered, or has some new twist.

Or does one find the model they want and simply pre-order via email or something as a commission?

Custom orders are possible, but may be expensive. Best to call the Shop, ask for Garth, and discuss.

That's correct.

Busse does have an unusual business model. But it works for them. Some folks come here, get all upset that there is no catalog of current production knives, decide that they don't want to deal with the Busse reality, or "play the game" as they would deride it, and go away.

It sounds like you have grasped that things are a littel different here. You will see that we are happy to answer questions from new seekers, and help them figure out which model they might want, and how to acquire it.

If you want the Busse immersion experience, then consider a road trip to Easton, PA on Dec. 10/11 for a trunk show sale, and a chance to meet some Busse staff, enjoy Amy's wonderful cheesecake, and hang out with the piglets. But I warn you, it could be an expensive trip. ;)

First rule of INFI club is don't believe anything anyone is saying on here, they're trying to confuse you! Jerry has the full line readily available at all times.
