Been working on this one awhile. Just started sanding. Still lots to do but you get the idea. I was watching The Book of Eli and got inspired to build this knife based on the machete/sword he uses. Great movie imho. I've seen some of the swords made after the movie sword and didn't want to copy them, so big knife it is.:D

10 inch blade
15 in OAL
1/8 inch 1080
Not sure what the handle is gonna be yet.

Comments welcome and thanks for looking.

That would look awesome with a Green Micarta handle with a bunch of grooves carved into it.

Like that style, but just solid green. Thats if you give it a Black finish. as I can see on the tang of the blade, looks like it was already finished black.

But Thats just what I would do.
Cool Chopper, I need to make a nice chopper myself. Like that G-zilla that P. Moore made. That thing is a beast. Check it out in the gallery sub forum of this sub forums parent folder. If I recall right the G-zilla had sculpted micarta handles like I suggested too.

Let us know how it goes.

Very nice. I'm partial to machetes and collect as many as I can. Often the handles are damaged beyond repair so I modify these; usually with stabilized dark burl woods.

With yours though, you have that funky angle at the ricasso, so I agree with thirdeye4013's suggestion. I think that look would be perfect.

I look forward to seeing the finished product.

Now here's a question for everyone. I just showed this to a friend and he liked it so much he wants me to make him one. I'm certainly no master craftsman and this is just the start of a very fun hobby for me. Question is, how much should I charge for a big knife like this? I do all my own work including heat treat. I'm thinking around $80.00. Any ideas?
