I have needed a new EDC for work for awhile. The one I had was light, but did not have a great feel and I was struggling to keep it sharp...it kept chipping. This in box opening duty and never hitting staples either. One of my friends was having great luck with CPM S30V in
his spyderco in the same use so I looked for the tiniest G10 handled spydie I could find. I normally buy big blades..Endura, Police 3 and 4, para military 2, etc. But this was to be for office EDC. Then I discovered the Lil Native. I had never seen it before and was chagrined to discover it came out last year! As I read the specs I became excited...I ordered one and waited.

I can't remember the last time I was so excited to get a new knife...it was killing me!

As I opened the shipping box I saw the smallest Spyderco box I had ever seen...I dug into it and laughed when I saw how cute the knife was! I inspected it closely...and it was perfect.
Perfect centering, sharp, blade was nice and free, comp lock was epic...
I carry work EDC deep in the pocket so I removed the very nice wire clip and dropped it in my pocket and went back to work. Perfection achieved!

The new knife has a premium feel and solidity my old knife lacked...handling is excellent and I laugh over how adorable it is! I love it!!! Thank you Eric for an epic EDC! My 11 year old exclaimed when she saw it "you got a baby knife!" She made me hand it and a para 2 to her and she was delighted and said "It has the same lock, my favorite!"

What a nice little package it is. I am very happy. My daughter may want one too...

Again, Thank you Eric and Spyderco! I wish I bought it last year!

PS. My non work carry is a PM2 in M390...I love it.

Congrats over a delightful find!!! Good to hear someone being excited over knives!

Thank you! It is such a fantastic office EDC it is epic! My biggest knife pal at work recognized it instantly and I let him handle it. He is going to buy one at the next blade show in Atlanta. He saw it when it was first introduced but did not handle it. He liked mine a lot!
At work I wear dress pants and have to be discreet. A small premium handling and feeling knife that is not too heavy is an absolute Godsend. I really do not like FRN scales anymore. G10 only for me.
The action and feel of the Lil Native are superior. The fact that is an adorable tiny piece just sends it over the moon for me. I had been feeling jaded...but this knife really brought the fun back!

I have the back lock, and it just reeks of quality, plus it's a great design - feels great, works great. Yes, thanks Eric the E-Man.

What is your overall take on this knife? I have gone back and forth on this knife. I do not like the Native. I like the Urban LW and the Chaparral. I considered one of these back lock Lil Natives to have a strong small knife.

I have the feeling you'd like it. It's still nice and small, like those two knives. Choiled, just like them. Very solid. Cuts well. I'm thinking I'll have to soften the G10's edges some time, but that's it. There's no jimping at all, if that bugs you. Okay, I do wish it had jimping on the top and bottom, I guess.

I bought the Lil Native for work and have used it to open boxes for 2 weeks.
Today I noticed it needed a touch up so out came the Sharpmaker. A few passes
on the white stones followed by a few passes on the optional super fine white
stones followed by a few strokes on the bench strop made it sharper than new.

I had been using S30V in another brand and it seemed to chip all the time. It was
hard to sharpen as well...the bevels were uneven. I was starting to hate S30V.

On the Lil Native it is a dream steel. My pal was raving how much he loved the S30V
on his Spyderco blades, which was one of the main reasons I decided to try one for
heavy use at work. Man, the grinds on this knife are spot on. It looks like it will be
much better than what I was using before. I am very pleased!

This new knife is really working out well!
