Chris I got yours in as we discussed. I am a bit confused by the work order though. Do I take this to mean you want me to make both a regular clip for it in titanium and another low rider style as well?

Let me know. Its going to be a few before I can get to it even though I'm starting back to the shop to get going on these projects today. I've got a good bit ahead of you yet so you have time.

Let me know. I do understand the bead blasting and touching up of the blade. Just need some clarity elsewhere.

MC I noticed today that the original clip is not with the rest of the knife so if you do want clips I will need that original for the job.

The knife did not have a clip when I received it :( If you need me to send one I can, I have a new Lil Temp I am trying to trade, I could take that clip off and send it to you. Originally I wanted both a low and a regular clip but after thinking about it some more I'll just go with a regular clip, don't worry about the low rider. The knife is too bulky and short for a low rider to be of any real benefit to me.

Its very risky on many folders to use the folder to copy the hole pattern of the risk of stripping or weakening the threads when you use that as your pattern. Generally speaking I like to avoid running drill bits through the threaded areas of folders unless their is no way around or unless I am able to rethread them. In the case of many its just not possible. I hate to take that knife you are selling and put it on hold until I can get the clip back to you. Tell you what. Can you try to use that clip as a template and copy it exactly holes and all through some stiff card paper and mail that to me. I've done that before. The holes need to be exact though but I can probably still make it work if its a tad off.

Hey STR,

Well I saw the Mini Ti Pry :eek: bars you have been making, any chance I can buy one and have it sent back with the Lil Temp when it's done? I would love one around 3-3.5 inches with a lanyard hole and another small hole near the lower end of the middle so I can give it a little cord wrap.

I sent it later than I intended to, but it went out last week sometime. The actual day escapes me though, all of my work days blend together. It's just a regular first class envelope with a card inside, I traced the patter about eight times for good measure.

It just came. I laughed good when I opened it. I thought I was being invited to a wedding there for a second!:D I see how you selected that though for the good stiff card stock it offered.

Thats some good timing! I have a lot of those left over and my wife doesn't want to throw them out so I'm glad I found something useful to do with one of em.

In regards to the mini pry while your at it would it be too much trouble for you to make me two instead of one?

Yeah I have five to do so I'll probably do them all around the same time. I'm probably going to be later getting them done though because there is a lot ahead of them that rates first.

So long as you are ok with the delay its cool by me yes.

MC I bead blasted the crap out of your blade today with like 8 long slow sweeps on each side. I cranked it up and still cannot really clean up the blade all that well. I mean its better but some of the deeper scratchs just go toooooo far to blast off there. In fact a couple of the deeper wider ones would be a while grinding off I think but I'm not going to do that. It is better.

My first attempt at the clip has not panned out well. One hole is off and I don't care for it so that one is in file 13 but I may try it again here. These are tight lined up holes so when there is two its not so bad but with four it doubles the chances of one being off. I'll attempt it again later on.

This was a time consumer here trying to get a clip for this without the original to use as a template. I must say its probably not my best work but sonsidering the circumstances with no original clip to copy its not bad. Functionally its 100% and it does the job.

I've cleaned it up and put it back together after bead blasting it again one more sweep. I think I'm going to give up on a low rider on it. At least for now. This was my third attempt just to get this one on there so I think I'm mailing it home to you tomorrow Chief.

I just have this one and the Tarani that is here to sharpen and they'll be ready for packing up.

That looks great to me, no worries on the low rider this will do just fine. I really appreciate all the trouble you went to to clean this one up and get it working again :) Let me know what I owe ya and while I'm at it can I pay for the two Mini Ti prys as well?

Well, yeah ok. I haven't gotten the ti yet but it is on the way to me as of today. Based on past ordering from Halpern it won't be here till next week. I'll be surprised if I have it by Wed next week. Probably more like next Friday would be my guess. I don't know why it is but everything from them takes longer to get here and its not them. They ship it right out usually. It just takes UPS that frickin' long to get it to Oklahoma from there.

You are looking at $40 plus $4.60 for this job, and lets see you had two of the mini "PrySTRs" ( I just came up with that :D) so that adds up to 44.60 plus 30. I've got $74.60 I'm rich! :)

Sounds good thanks STR! I'll get that over to you so were squared up. On another note though I need some advice. I just bought myself a B-Day present Strider SNG Gen 6 and because I'm a pain in the rear I would like to satin inish the blade (tiger stripes are not really my thing) can you maybe give me a few pointers on this?

Those are usually bead blasted. I think the the reason most guys using S30V are bead blasting it is because it doesn't look that great with other finish choices. Its been said to be a royal pain to make look good even for the experts so I'd suggest just blasting the blade and touching the edge back up.

You might consider asking Tom Krein if he thinks he can give a uniform brushed look using a belt without taking too much off the steel. I could do that but he'd do it better. :thumbup:

Hey STR,

Payment sent for the above mentioned. I received the Lil Temp back and it looks a hell of a lot better then it did :) Also the clip is just right for me, I don't even notice it's there when I'm holding the knife and consequently I like the knife a lot better now. Thanks for the advice on the Strider, I'll probably just hold off and use it for a bit then consider my options.
